Finishing off the handheld division, but certainly not least, is the Nintendo DS. Selling more units than I care to count in 2008, Nintendo’s little dual screen wonder has a lot going for it, including good games.
Rounding out third place this year is Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword from Tecmo. One of the best action games from early to current consoles was ported over to the DS with great success. Aside from coming with a kick-ass sword stylus, the game sported simple, yet elegant controls that allowed you to unleash Ryu Hayabusa’s most dangerous attacks.
In second place is Professor Layton and the Curious Village from Level 5. This point and click action-adventure game brought brain teasers and puzzles into an immensely fun realm. Forget other brain games, Professor Layton is the best DS game out there to hone your mind.
And the winner for the 2008 Game of the Year for the Nintendo DS is… The World Ends With You from Square Enix. This terrificly cell-shaded action RPG sports one hell of a story combined with solid gameplay, everything you expect from Square Enix. Congrats and keep it up!
After a quick break for the weekend, we’ll be back on Monday with our picks for the Wii’s Game of the Year!

I’m surprised Chrono didn’t make the list.
Great choice! Either Layton or TWEWY would be deserving the first place
