Moving right along, we’re now on to the Game of the Year choices for Sony’s PSP. There were a good number of must own titles this year, so this was more difficult than previous year’s choices. Let’s get right to it.
Bringing up the trifecta in third place is Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII from Square Enix. One of the biggest RPG’s to grace the platform, Crisis Core mixed a great story with solid gameplay to appease any Final Fantasy fan.
Runner up is Patapon from Pyramid/Japan Studios. The simplistic, yet very deep gameplay coupled with how cute the little Patapon creates are makes this a winner. A great take on rhythm gameplay and a steal at $20, this is the best value on the PSP.
This year’s winner for 2008 Game of the Year on the PSP is God of War: Chains of Olympus, developed by Ready at Dawn. The God of War experience has been about terrific gameplay, great stories, and huge scale. The PSP version did the impossible in bringing that enormous scale of gameplay to a handheld platform. Chains of Olympus is easily the most impressive graphical title to grace the platform and should be a part of every PSP owner’s library. Congratulations Ready at Dawn! Hopefully you come back to the PSP where you’ve put out some amazing games!
Stay tuned, the Nintendo DS is up next…
