World of Warcraft players have waited for what it seems like ages for a new expansion pack and finally received it last week when Wrath of the Lich King was released. Gamers figured to be treated to months of new quests, dungeons, raiding, and everything else that WoW players do. Two of the best Guilds in the world united under one banner to be the first to beat the expansion pack. Well, hundreds of hot pockets later and God knows how many cans of Red Bull, they did it. In 4 days. The beat everything. Now, they are not as happy as they thought they would be.
We are proud to declare that all WOTLK PVE raid content has now been cleared. This is both a moment of triumph and a cause for concern. The question in all our minds right now is if we could do this, how soon until the rest of the top guilds in the world clear all the raid content that WOTLK has to offer? Did Blizzard miscalculate in the tuning of these encounters? Or is this Blizzard folding under the weight of a large casual player base that demands to be on equal footing with end-game raiders?
I don’t know guys, maybe Blizzard figured you would not have played for probably 96 straight hours and have every imaginable item, spell, sword, special hat, strap-on, whatever. You guys also did everything in your power to beat the game as fast as possible and are now surprised that you beat the game in 4 fucking days? Its like the gamers who raced through Halo 3 or Gears 2 overnight. I fully understand how much larger WoW is in every aspect, but if the game was tailored to the most hardcore players, the millions of casuals would just say fuck it. It’s called pacing yourselves. If you wanted to be the first, hey, job well done. Very impressive. Just don’t bitch when the ride you sped through is over. Thats called “Tough Shit” in the World of Reality.

Now all of these idiots will be sitting around bitching that there is nothing to do and Blizzard needs to put out more content.
Enjoy the ride people..the game isnt going anywhere
God, if those people treated sex the same way, I feel bad for any woman attempting to sleep with them.
Blizzard must fucking love this, it means they have an excuse to sell another expansion to these worthless cunts.
Did they at least have fun grinding out the entire expansion in 4 days? Because if they treated it like a chore, then what was the point?
“Or is this Blizzard folding under the weight of a large casual player base that demands to be on equal footing with end-game raiders?” Casual player?! These people aren’t casual players, they are losers with no real friends or lives who treat WoW like a job rather than a game, and probably spend more time on it than they do their real jobs.
Cring, that’s the point, they’re whining about your average player, the 99.99% of the 11million or whatever subscribers, they’re pissy that the vast majority of the populace is ruining it for them.
Besides, this is nothing, really. They’ve beaten the first tier of content, the easy stuff, and without any of the achievements that exist to make the content challenging. Ontop of this they got to “test” the content for the last month or two in the beta, nobody is surprised that after months of practice that when it was released they just steamrolled through it.
Well, congrats to them, they managed to trivialise spending £20 on content that is going to last the average player some time. Thank fuck Blizzard isn’t bending over backwards to cater for the “elite,” the people that will shit in socks and never leave their parents’ basements, means the game still remains fun and full of new content for the rest of us.

These people are not having sex, except with themselves or cybering…hence the ability to finish the quests in 4 days. Incidentally, when my I cancelled my (now) ex husbands WoW account there was a reason that said something along the lines of “loss of family due to game” or some such crap.
Great stuff, I love WOW, i think some of the gamers are awesome on there, the guys who play its awesome to know so many people play in just 1 awesome major community i love WOW! its amazing
I used to play WoW, but I stopped when I got to the point that I either needed to dedicated my entire life to raiding, or dedicate it to doing arenas. Either way, it was lose-lose and I just gave up. It’s not fun after a certain point, especially when you want to have a life too.
Yeah, that game is WAY too easy. Really .. I’ve played better free MMOs. I jumped into the game and had no problem out playing more than half the people on my server.
Good job Blizzard, making it easier with every pass. Now that 8 year olds can play it and “PWN TEH NOOBZORGS” …. I’m going to find myself a better game.
funny thing is… the lich king isnt even in the game yet >_>
he will be in the next patch though
Tailoring the game to the majority makes sense. The guilds that have cleared Nax were looking for a challenge. As a casual player I have to say the dungeons in the expansion have been far too easy so far.
I am months away from clearing Nax, let alone the content beyond it, but I can already begin to see what Nihilum/SK Gaming (or whatever their new name is) was talking about.
There’s a difference between making a game accessible but challenging and making a game too easy. It is intended that more of the average player should see all of the content, but Blizzard is running the risk of making the content not interesting enough to be worth seeing any more.
There are a lot more power gamers like this than you’d think. Almost every server has at least 5 guilds like that. And while they’ve trivialized the spending of $40 on the expansion, blizzard had trivialized the work they’d put into getting their epic gear, by releasing an expansion that within two or three quests had already given them better gear than their Arena gear or PvE gear that they’d worked really hard to get. The least blizzard could’ve done was released enough content to keep them busy for a while.
You also should touch on the fact that they, being the 40-120 people were decked out in the nicest gear you could get (tier 5-6, arena, and decent gladiator gear) were only jumping 10 levels, if you and 40 of your friends were trying to jump 10 levels in normal gear where you aren’t so over-geared you can just walk over level 75’s heads as soon as you enter northrend, it would take about a week or two. Well anyways there is a ton of PVP content that i guarantee have not seen the end of, there are more instances and raids to be released, maybe even another expansion in a year or two so relax, and enjoy, they’ll make a stronger heroic mode for your ass someday i can almost gaurantee it.
there is more than enough content for
even your most hardcore and diligent players.
if these uber-gamers want to short-change
themselves by rushing through everything,
that’s their own goddam fault. i’m taking my time.
and as far as blizz trivializing their epic gear,
we all knew it was going to happen. it happened last time.
i was in full epics when the exp. came out,
and am for the most part, still in those epics.
it will take a lot more than
“two or three quests” to replace my gear.
all i can say is, go make a death knight.
I feel bad for the other people on their server if it’s pvp. Now that they are all level 80 and beat the content it leaves most of them not much to do except fly around and gank the opposite faction as they are trying to level up still lol.
wow… WoW getting dumbed down… theres $80 or so I hvent wasted on a game thats getting worse. Ironically, with the whole pay-to-play bullshit of mmorpg’s, I probably have more liquid funds than them, and I’m a college student who plays 40K (tabletop), which I could stop paying for, still play, AND still have a life (a game takes 1.5 to 2.5 hours, so it fits into a schedule easily, and there is no requirement to pre-plan, as pickup games are easier (and in some ways better than) pre-planned tournies and REALLY big (really rare) games lasting 4-5 hours). Then theres Guild Wars… got harder and better on each pass, the sequel looks to continue to do that. finally, Starcraft 2 is probably stealing a decent chunck of Blizards quality programmers, designers, ect. and now they are just pumping out more WoW expansions to earn more money.
Reading back over what I wrote, I don’t think I was too critical over the players who steamrolled the Exp pack… but I stand by my sentiments.
They used every advantage they could to beat the game and even combined forces making it that much more likely a positive outcome had to happen, albeit quickly.
Savor the flavor gentlemen, is all I am saying.
Wow WoW. I can’t believe some people. I play online games, but they’re games that require skill. Oh I know someone will say WoW requires skill, but its the crap that you can buy that makes you good. The more time you spend playing, the “better” you are at the game.
This being said, WoW IS a casual game. Anyone can play and that’s what makes it popular. Now I won’t hate on WoWers, because I know some personally. Like in RL. (Real Life, for those who don’t know, is an expansion pack for WoW.) The people who take this game to a level where they must question the developers catering to people who don’t spend 10 hours a day playing, are a waste of life.
Games are fun, but they shouldn’t be used like a drug. An addict uses a substance to retreat from reality. This is exactly what these people are doing.
We need a WoWanon.
@5 you say these people treat this game like a job and have no friends. Well hate to break it to you but you CAN get paid to play games. And these people got lucky enough to get to be paid to play way. Check it out http://www.sk-gaming.com/wow/ Right there proves you can be a nerd and get paid the big bucks. Dont be pissed because they get paid to play video games. it happens.
… that is just sad. i am not even lvl 71 yet. Honestly i just use the game as a time sink foe when none of my roommates or freinds are around.
perhaps is i did not have friends, or a GPA, or job i would not feel bad for the super guild.
WOW IS FUCKING GAY!!!!!
@ Doug
Your point is both valid and flawed at the same time. It is true you can get paid to play games but this is VERY rare. Its akin to getting paid to plat professional poker. Only the very top get a chance to make an income and its a short list. As far as big bucks, that is even a smaller list. You can get 50k a year by playing games, but you can make 50k working a real job with health insurance, benefits, 401k etc.
Great post~! Wonder if they finally get a girl in bed would they rush to get to the end as well?
[...] cruising around looking for stuff that may peak some interest. Well, I stumbled upon this from Loot-Ninja, which has a disturbing story about how a top guild completed all the tasks in the expansion in 4 [...]
OK… so this shows obvious ignorance to the game. People tried to beat Burning Crusade as fast as they could when it came out, but guess what… the content was hard, like how it should be. Hardcore player’s play hardcore content, like raids. The fact that they beat the end game raids of WotLC with gear from before that expansion is just embarrassing for Blizzard. Yes Blizzard needs to make the game accessible for casual gamers, but they have been doing fine with that. They could have more 10 man raids geared towards casuals, without obliterating hardcore game play. I started playing again after 6 months of not playing for WotLK, and I’ve only ever casually raided, but this change upsets me. If I were ever to want to do raids I want it to be hard and rewarding.
hate to put it like this, but I quit wow when I got a girlfriend. Sad but true. I just didnt have any more time for it and since I was already a non hard-core player, it only took me meeting my fiancée to quit =)
lol world of warcraft… i hope all these people investing this time and money realize that it’s all going to be worthless one day, when the next great substitute for real life comes around
Losers
im going to laugh my ass off when the people that play WOW one day wake up and realize that they spent what could have been the best years of their lives playing a game that doesnt mean shit. you cant get that time back. such a pathetic waste of time
The ignorance of this article and most of the comments made is absolutely tremendous. Blizzard made the game so much more entirely easy than it has ever been before, these guys just happened to get there a day before everyone else and post about it. As they said, they didn’t know if it was just them or if Blizzard really did make the game that easy because they were the first. Anyone who could gather 25 people at the same time could clear all the content the game has to offer at the moment. In the last x-pac, Blizz did tailor it to the most hard core players and it was exactly the game and difficulty it should be. The game does take skill, at least it used to. It’s like playing the game with cheats, have you ever played a game with god mode on and had it have replay value? I have faith in Blizzard that they will fix what they have done and bring us a challenge again.
For the stupid fucks who think that these people who have already ‘beat’ the game will have nothing to do til the next x-pac, Blizzard continually releases new content to those who purchased the x-pac. Quit being fucking retarded and thinking you know something because some dumbass made a terrible article. It’s pretty damn well obvious that the writer has never experienced what he’s talking about. Hell, this guy has about as much credibility in this area as a McDonalds employee in Intel’s engineering lab.
To the person who said paying to play is a waste of time. Here is what I have to say about that… If anything it has saved me a BUNCH of money (or would have). I quit playing at one time because my computer broke down and I did not have the resources at the time to fix it. So while waiting to get my PC up and running again I was bored, I thought to myself “You know, maybe I’ll get an XBox”. So I did. There goes 400 dollars right away. Gotta have games! Another 200 within the first day of the purchase. I bought Halo 3, Gears of War and Guitar Hero. So okay, cool. That lasted about two weeks. Halo and Gears have about 0 replay value, so toss that 120 bucks out the window. Now I know some people are saying “Online play!” Okay great, thats 50 bucks for XBL. Halo 2 on XBL was sweet so I had faith in bungie to keep it that way. Yeah right..What a waste of money. Don’t even bring up gears multiplayer, if that wasnt garbage I wouldent want to know what is.
-So there it is, 650 bucks for about a months worth of entertainment.
Blizzards 15 a month seems pretty tempting.
And people who play board games making fun of WoW? Oh lol.
WoR pwns WoW
@Zimmer
Hows about a more likely scenario
Hmm I cant play WoW I guess Ill go catch a movie with my friends
trade $15 for $10 about the same price (add a $5 pack of milkduds) but with one you tighten your social strings that exist in the real world.
Seriously if your the type of person that has to replace one addiction of antisocialism with another more expensive version and even more antisocial vice then you are better off confined to the basement.
Ladies and gentlemen…this is the exact reason for America’s obesity! I love how they showed the image from South Park, because it fits so perfect. I feel bad for the sorry souls of that guild who sit on their asses all day, don’t go hang out with friends in real life, don’t go outside and do real life things… I mean i’m a gamer, and I’m all for the idea of a second life…but not at the cost of your first life…oh well their loss : P
thank you, good writer.
Lame, WoW is not a game you beat!
Wow……..no pun intended.
I can’t belive these people complain without questioning “Is my life spent productively?”
If you want a challenge stop playing wow and start playing ffxi. Go fight a enemy that takes 18 hours to beat (and has been out for about 3 months with no team yet to defeat)
Either that, or get a job…………..ya know either or…..
What I feel sorry for are all the incredibly stupid people who felt the need to bash others for their choices as if they themselves were fucking perfect. I hate to break it to those people, but nothing you do in your so called real life matters either. You’re going to die in how ever many years you have left and eventually, one day, so will man as a species, so taking away whatever amazing yet pointless contribution the people that play WoW are supposed to make to the rest of society, how is their spending time playing a game while interacting with friends and more or less important than physically interacting with them in “real life”?! the fact is that people who play games are happy playing games and it should not matter to any of you that they do it as long as it makes them happy and isn’t taking away from your happiness, so as Eddie would say, have a coke and a smile and shut the fuck up.
Anyways, who’s the bigger time wasting loser, the WoW player or the guy who takes time out of his so called real life to bitch about him.
As another commentator stated above, the reason this guild is so concerned with the seeming triviality of the content is because it really does signal an apparent change from previous Blizzard policy. When new content was released either for vanilla WoW or BC, guilds attempted to defeat it in exactly the same manner as described above.. except.. they couldn’t. At least not in 4 days. Instances like AQ (where, admittedly, the final boss was broken for a time) or Nax or later Black Temple took a good while to beat, even for the so-called power guilds.
Part of this may be players simply getting better over time having gotten used to playing the game more “skillfully” over the years. But I doubt that’s all of it.
@ Darkelfa:
“You’re going to die in how ever many years you have left and eventually, one day, so will man as a species”
That is a rather bleak outlook on life. No one is bashing WoW for its communal affects; it is a great social device.
“Anyways, who’s the bigger time wasting loser, the WoW player or the guy who takes time out of his so called real life to bitch about him.”
No one who plays WoW is a loser, but if you can rationalize all the time spent playing a game… it is a game after all… with someone taking 2 minutes to comment about it… I’d have to vote against you on that one.
THANK YOU!
I don’t understand why they had to run though to be ‘Realm First’, to everyone else on the game, they look like they had no life at all. The content isn’t as hard as I thought I would be, but it’s still fun and exciting to see all the new content.
I think it’s interesting that the people commenting here can judge these guilds so quickly. These guilds, while hardcore, are only doing this because they enjoy the thrill of this game. Quite simply, they could quit just as easily (and yes, go outside).
Anti-social activities have existed forever, has anyone read a book lately? Or how about those people that used StumbleUpon to come to this page? But we don’t judge those people now, do we? What about the people who have the time to comment on these blogs (myself included)?
What makes one person happy is another person’s poison, who are we to judge?
On another note, Blizzard HAS to tailor to the casual player, it’s their biggest biggest market. If I remember correctly, I am pretty sure that people were saying the same thing about the Burning Crusade being way too easy. The hardcore guilds will have their time, Arthas still needs to be taken down after all.
WoW pwns WoR
I’m not going to judge casuals for being casual, or the hardcore guilds for binge-gaming, but, all things aside, I’m pretty sure stuff like this is what led to the death of EverQuest.
LOL…blizzard is getting rich as fuck off of this shit. I think I will make a MMORPG and charge $15 per month per person.
“You guys also did everything in your power to beat the game as fast as possible and are now surprised that you beat the game in 4 fucking days?”
That is the point. People like this enjoy competition and being number one. In the past new content was near impossible even with endless preparation and “doing everything in your power.”
Now people can almost pug all of the content which means the current state of competition is really lack-luster.
No new content means no reason to play.
WOW i already made lvl 80…awwwwuuuuu
I dunno, those guilds are pretty ridiculous. The reason they are complaining, though, is because it used to take at least a few weeks of gearing up before your overall raid damage/healing and the gear of the main tank was good enough to do some bosses.
I’ve cleared all the content so far as well, and although I’m quite content with the level of play, I can see where the high-end guilds must have stampeded through it and at the end wondered what game they were actually playing. Wow has never been this easy. It’s different from the single-player halo 3 or gears 2 stories that people rush through because the competitive aspect of those games come in the multiplayer portion. The competitive aspect of wow, however, comes into play only in racing other guilds to down content. When the race goes from those who can gear their guild up fast enough, and who’s raiders are more skilled winning, to whoever can raid for 72 hours straight and tough out all the content winning, the whole competitive edge diminishes. Imagine if everyone in halo 3 was given guns that auto-kill and aim for you. That’s a good analogy of what the wow community is experiencing right now.
Again, it’s not like I’m going to stop playing. In fact, I think this level of play is more fun, because there aren’t as many tough spots that aren’t fun to play though.
Just my two cents
>>Did Blizzard miscalculate in the tuning of these encounters?
No, you brought complete Sunwell gear and unlimited free time into the first release of an expansion pack. Enough said. Ridiculous.
WoW is for n00bs. People who spend all day gaining experience in an online world just like to QQ.
