Best Strategy for Winning a Chainsaw Duel

Gamerscore Blog’s Chris Paladino recently conducted an interview with Epic’s own Cliff Bleszinski and Rod Fergusson on how they win chainsaw duels in Gears of War 2.  They have some fairly interesting ideas, like rubbing a pen back and forth over the buttons but their preferred method is still the trusty thumb twitch.  Do any of you have a secret method you would like to share on how to win a chainsaw duel?  I am all ears.

  1. Interesting enough, I haven’t lost one yet. Probably had half a dozen or so happen thus far. I just use my thumb. I think, the biggest ‘key’ is efficiency. My thumb never leaves the B button and you want full, smooth button presses. If you get too excited, you’ll start pressing it too late ( to start out ) and might not be pressing the button every time you push down.

I haven’t played GOW2 yet but I like the whole who can tap the B button faster.

  3. I probably am 50/50 at this point. I might try to deploy the index finger because nothing else seems to be working consistently. The index finger worked for me for Castle Crashers in All You Can Quaff. The difference is you know it’s coming in Castle Crashers, in Gears I am usually not ready for the duel.
