The one feature I will say that I enjoy tremendously about Guitar Hero: World Tour is the music creator. The fact that someone could sit down and compose, or re-create, songs gives much more realism and makes it far more entertaining. The only problem, however, was the warning of unauthorized covers as addressed by World Tour director Brian Bright – who promised to delete any copyright-unfriendly material. You will always have those that are just tempted to break those barriers, nonetheless. Some people are just prone to doing the opposite of what is righteous.

Video game songs have been the the most downloadable user-created tracks in World Tour – songs from Zelda and Mario titles being the most popular. Who wouldn’t want to rock-out with their cocks-out to songs from Ocarina of Time? Or even jamming to classic Mario tunes? I sure as hell would. However, in the first deletion of music, the game’s moderators removed the recreated Nintendo songs from their servers. The last thing Activision needs is Shigeru Miyamoto suing the living shit out of Activision and having Nintendo characters in the next World of Warcraft expansion… Ugh. The thought of a Kirby and WoW combination gives me a stomach ache.

I will definitely have to agree with the actions taken by Activision with regards to copyrighted material. People tend to perpetuate the egregious acts of ignorance and expect rewards for it. It is this very reason why such strict rules are applied – because of the constant abuse users give to the industry (i.e. all forms of media and entertainment). If Activision later decides to pull this feature from future releases, I will not hold them accountable for it. You’re fucking it up for the rest of us, people. Have common sense. Sadly, common sense just isn’t that common anymore.
