With the NXE Preview Program finally underway, I guess it was inevitable that someone was going to leak the install files, but be careful what you wish for. It seems that after installing the update on your machine that your Xbox becomes unable to connect to Xbox Live as long as you are not a member of the program. Not only that, but Major Nelson himself has issued a warning, scary! The question still remains, how long will you be unable to access Xbox Live? Quite possibly just until the update on November 19th.
If you are feeling lucky and have no intention of playing Gears of War 2 online this coming week, feel free to give it a shot but don’t say we didn’t warn you. It actually is extremely easy to apply the update, just follow the link below for the file and a brief explanation.

Waiting is certainly a b**ch. However, software from M$ always gives me the creeps. I’m mostly excited about the ability to cache ( install ) games to your HDD — though this is going to be another $$$ maker for M$ — and the Netflix streaming ability. No more needing to boot into Windows on my Mac.
Speaking of M$ and their “nickel and diming” ( pay for additional avatar accessories / clothing ) but why are there ads if we pay for XBL? Shouldn’t it be one or the other? M$ just never gives up.
I installed the leaked version but I don’t use it for Xbox Live just yet because you might get barred, but the game installation feature is pretty much the only cool thing about the NXE. Other then that I rather have the blades, I wonder if Microsoft will make two versions of the system update, one with the game install option and the other with the all new NXE.
