Fanboys have skewed reviews since day one, whether it be video games or movies, or just about anything that gets reviewed. It doesn't just happen in video games. One that comes to mind is paintball markers, where most people have a negative bias against Smart Parts. They make some good markers, but they rarely get the ratings they deserve because of bias against the company.

So it's only expected that it would happen. And in all honesty, when I am looking to buy something, I look for the negative reviews first to see what is wrong with a product. You can usually tell pretty fast if they full of it or if they are being straight with you.

I only read positive reviews from people I trust, because just like negative reviews, some of the positives are written by fanboys who will embellish their opinion of a title towards the positive.

The people at Metacritic should seriously read all reviews before they allow them to be listed. A little common sense and a little reading would save us the grief of having to read garbage reviews when they're bundled in with the good ones.

"block any user review before a game hits its release date and anyone who submits an obvious early review is banned. Doesn’t seem like the problem is that hard to solve." That's a crazy idea but it might just work!
/sarcasm.

Pretty sad to be honest. How will they keep a PS3 fanboy from sandbagging an Xbox title ratings?
I hope two things happen here.
1. Some controls are put into place to prevent sandbagging.
2. People wise up, get a life, and stop spewing hate over video games.
