We had brought you news about Blizzard bringing you Blizzzcon via pay per view and giving out an in game Polar Bear mount for ordering. Well it seems that the Polar Bear Mount is the first item in World of Warcraft to get a special classification, “Account Bound”. What does this mean? Typically high level items become “Soulbound” to your character, which means only that one character can use it, “Account Bound” means that all of your characters on your account can now use this item. This is an interesting turn of events as mounts can be expensive but possibly can now be shared among your different toons. We will keep you posted as to what other items appear with this special designation.

Write a Comment»Eh, I don’t know. What if you get an amazing weapon with a level 70 character that becomes Account Bound, then you fire it up with your level 8 character and just dominate everyone. Seems like it could easily get unbalanced.
Well weapons have certain stats that you will need and level caps in order to prevent that stuff form happening. But it is cool if you could share stuff that is usable by two different classes. Weapons probably will be tough since priests cant use hunter weapons, etc.
i have the blizzcon mount and love that it is account bound. the account bound stuff is great.
Mounts are actually cheap its the skill that costs all the gold. So in reality it being account bound is only going to save a few hundred gold per toon you use it on.
