Want to know how ripping a game to your hard drive will effect load times after the Next Xbox Experience update drops later this year? Check out this comparison video showing GTA4 both from the DVD and from the hard drive. A good 10 seconds or more quicker is a nice bonus if you have the hard drive space to use. Ch-check it out.

I really dont see the purpose. Your going to fill up half your hardrive to load a game 5 seconds faster?
OK, a little faster loading games but the only REAL benefit I will see (or hear) is that you won’t have that freakin’ DVD drive whining while you play your game! I see myself loading 1 or 2 of the common games I play.
What about rentals? How will it verify that you still have/own the game? Does that mean I can rent a game, load it on the HDD, then return it?!? It will be interesting to see what the restrictions will be.
@RamHawk - you need to have the disc in the tray to verify you own the game. It checks the disc to make sure it’s legit, then it’ll load the files from the hard drive.
It really sucks that you have to put the disc in. The most annoying thing about consoles is having to get up to fliddle with discs.. It’s almost a better experience playing demos/arcade games off the 360’s harddrive in that sense.
That was the cool part about having a modded original xbox. you can flip through your games quick and easy. I shouldnt have to stop being lazy and get up to change games. Discs suck they’re only around because they’re cheap. They aren’t fast and in my eyes considered a disposable item.
They should let you just buy full games online, have it tied to your live account. If you want to play it on a different xbox you can hand off a token to a friend’s live account, and take it back when you want. And if you bought the disc version, you have to be online to validate the harddrive copy or else have to put the disc in to continue playing. Kind of like steam for the pc. Everything about the new live experience screams convenience, and disc swapping kills that feeling.
