Ridiculous Install for PS3 BioShock

Nothing kills the mood for gaming faster than a long download of a patch, a system update or in the case of PS3 games a mandatory install. Reports are stating that BioShock on the PS3 will require a 5 GB install, which reportedly will take upwards of ten minutes to complete.

There is also exclusive added content, trophy support, challenges, a new difficulty and a date with Rihanna. (Ok the last part isn’t part of the package) It better look pretty and run like a hot knife through butter for that size of an install, thats all I am saying, grab a sandwich and come back to the game after it installs.

Honestly I don’t get it. I hope PS3 users are aware that they are going to run out of space sooner or later. I mean with all of these large installs (3GB to 5GB) they are going to run out of room after about 10 large games are installed. Honestly I see this as a weakness of the PS3.

Pretty much the whole HD is going to be used up for games for some users. In addition, when the user wants more room, they can un-install a game but they will have to re-install it (which means waiting) when they want to play it again. It’s a good concept in THEORY but honestly its going to run into some issues along the road IMO.

This is the one thing I like about the 360. Even though storage space on the DVDs is limited (yes I know we get screwed over sometimes). With this new update we will be able to have the option to install the games on the HD.

Yea I know that my friend upgraded his. I actually am jealous of how simple it is to do on the PS3 using a laptop HD vs. the Xbox drive which is pretty much impossible.

it is so easy to add a huge HD to the PS3. storage is not an issue. Granted, the install time is a bummer like it was with DMC4 but you forget all about it after you have been playing. I just wish they were disc image installs where i didnt need the disc at all so I could be uber-lazy and play without leaving the couch to swap.

I’m upgrading the PS3 HDD to a 320 gig, so the installs aren’t a problem for me. And the 320 gig HDD is $110 at newegg.com
