Sony is bringing a much needed feature to the PS3 editions of SingStar later this year. The PS2 versions have all supposed a disc swapping feature, which allows you to switch discs to load new songs without quitting the game by pressing the Select button during song selection. This didn’t exist in the PS3 version because, well, there was only one version.
In an effort to allow PS3 owners to keep playing their previous SingStar songs from the PS2, Sony is bringing that disc swapping to SingStar for the PS3. You’ll be able to hit Select and fire up one of your PS2 copies of SingStar to rock out to those tracks as well. Bear in mind, you need to have a PS3 that has backwards compatibility, which is getting increasingly difficult to find.
To go along with the Disc Swapping, SingStar Volume 2 is coming for the PS3 in North America with Trophy support. Volume 2 has been out in Europe for a while, but North American gamers will finally get to rock out to the 30 new tracks in the game. Why we can’t just grab these from the SingStore, I don’t know. I’m assuming the original PS3 SingStar will be patched for Trophy support as well, but only time will tell. Rock on.
So many SingStar stuff was announced at the Sony Leipzig, and tbh I don’t give a crap about SingStar.

i love singstar. i have people over on fridays and we play and the disc swapping was always irritating. my biggest gripe is the singstore is primarily stuff i all ready own on ps2 discs and songs for Europe or elsewhere… crap no one in the states has ever heard of or would want to learn. I am stoked for more new songs in part 2 though. there aren’t many games that i can play with my girlfriend, friends, mom, little cousins and aunts and uncles where everyone has fun. for this reason, singstar is great.
My wife will be giddy when I tell her about this.
