Wireless Keypad Coming to PS3

PS3 Wireless Keypad

Chalk this one up into the category of “Peripherals you probably won’t ever use”. Similar to the Xbox 360 Chatpad, this keypad attaches to your PS3 controller (except at the top) and gives you text input. It works via Bluetooth, so you could essentially use this with any Bluetooth device that accepts keyboards.

The cool thing about this Keypad is that is has a mode that turns the main key area into a touch pad that acts like a laptop mouse pad. You can use it to navigate the internet easier and word is this could be integrated in some games in the future.

No pricing has been officially announced, but this Wireless Keypad will launch in November.

i dont understand why consoles don’t just make PC gaming obsolete completely and offer a keyboard and mouse that works. Perhaps the game developers said no so they could sell more copies to different platforms. who knows. maybe you guys know the answer.

Consoles will never make PC gaming obsolete because consoles will never match the power of a PC. A high end video card is more than 10X as powerful as the video chipset on the 360 or PS3.

i have a crazy high end PC and it looks the same as my PS3 which was literally a tenth of the cost. It certainly has more power, but I can’t see it. PC gaming on that level exists only for a tiny tiny percent of people who can waste embarrassing amounts of money to play new games on highest settings. Then you have to shell out hundreds more every few months for upgrades. I will never buy a PC to game on again for sure, I will just get blizzard titles that I can use on my work macs. The consoles are only getting better and cheaper… PCs are staying at the ridiculously high price point of well over 5 grand if you want top of the line hardware. If I had a real keyboard and mouse for my PS3 and it played diablo, starcraft, and WoW, I would be on my couch rocking that out all day. But really I want a mouse so I can play FPS games on a console. I suck worse than anybody ever at analog aiming. It is tragic.

I have a friend who paid $5k for his PC, that was just him, now he can play almost any game he wants. But really if you want a gaming rig that can handle any game out today you just really need a little more than $1k. That’s just for the parts. Yes it is quite a drag having to upgrade computer parts for a game that will be coming out in a year or so, but I think people like to exaggerate it. Really all you need to practically upgrade is your video card and RAM. That’s why I buy games that stick around for a very long time such as WC3, CS, COD4, etc. Instead of shelling out a ton of cash just to play Crysis when there’s barely a community.
