Phantasy Star Portable Huge Success in Japan

It looks like the newest Sega incarnation Phantasy Star Portable for the PSP has sold over 500,000 copies within its first week of release. Looks like the portable version is in competition with the big boys and giving Crisis Core a run for its money for the top spot.

Here are the numbers of the other Phantasy Star titles in their first week to give you a comparison:

Phantasy Star Online (Dreamcast) - 84,689
Phantasy Star Online V2 (Dreamcast) - 119,159
Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II (Gamecube) - 74,801
Phantasy Star Universe (Playstation 2) - 124,059
Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of the Illuminus (Playstation 2) - 23,665

Hopefully this will be enough proof for Sega to take this game seriously and bring it over to Europe and North America; so far no official dates are listed for either.

I’ve been a Phantasy Star fan ever since and I when it was released in Japan and was a success I wanted it to come to NA even more because I don’t wanna import this game and play it without English subtitles at the least. Japan is lucky to have Free DLC from Monster Hunter and Phantasy Star Portable T_T where’s out free awesome DLC like this?
