Diablo III goes non-gender specific

One thing that was interesting in past Blizzard inspired Diablo games was the fact that only certain genders could play certain classes.

For those who aren’t familiar with past “Diablo” titles, the character classes were either one gender or the other — the Necromancer was male, the Amazon was female, the Barbarian was male, etc. Like the destaturated art style and the inclusion of old character classes, some “Diablo III” team members wanted to stick with the familiar one-gender archetypes.

Looks like Blizzard is willing to pick up the tab in order to offer it’s fanbase all the options they could possibly want. Now you can be a dual wielding female or a mystical sorcerer male. Nice to see Blizzard going the extra mile for it’s fans and even though it cost them some extra coin making the next Diablo game even more open ended.

Despite the cost, the company is moving forward with gender choices for the character classes.

funny you should say that right as the “Oopscon ‘08″ fiasco is wrapping up. I have never been more angy at a company than I am with blizzard right now. they botched the blizzcon ticket sales so bad it is hard to imagine. so many people got screwed, including me.

beyond their ticket purchasing site being down randomly then officially offline for 36 hours, they put it back up, there is another flurry of traffic, it goes down again, they announce tickets are sold out, then announce they have a reserve of tickets, tickets go on sale again, I get my tickets in my shopping cart, am waiting for the hellishly slow processing due to the overwhelming traffic, and then my screen finally updates to the following message “error ## during processing, one or more of your items has become out of stock” My brain just went numb like i got hit with a bat in the head. I couldn’t believe it. The same thing happened to a few of my guild members as well. Now the head of blizzard issued a formal apology and is offering an additional 3000 tickets in a lottery which could or could not be a total fake out to appease the horde of angry nerds, myself included, but I am not buying it. Too little too late. Unfortunately i am addicted to their game catalog and will be playing and buying them all just as much as ever. But damn it, I was i wasn’t so I could say “F U!” haha.
