Coming in September, the 40GB PS3 will be upgraded to an 80GB hard drive for the same $399 price tag. No features are being added, like backwards compatibility.
Definitely cool to see more storage for the same price. Stay tuned for more.

That’s pretty nice but all the features of the PS3 is a must, this will move some consoles nonetheless.

I think it was a mistake to remove BC and the memory card reader, but to each his own.
Will this come with a controller and all that stuff? or just the PS3
If it’s the ssame $399 price point, they should be leaving in the controller and stuff that came with the prior version.
