Sony fixed the issue with 2.40 and has released v2.41 this morning so everyone can get their in-game XMB on. Fire up your PS3 and hit the download. I’m sure the servers are going to get hammered.
Doesn’t look like anything major changed since 2.40. The only thing I noticed is the Platinum Trophy icon in the profile screen is different. Otherwise, everything looks the same. One thing to note is that you now accept all the conditions before downloading. I’m not sure if this is because I already have 2.40 installed, but it’s good that once you start the download, you can walk away and the firmware will install itself.

I think it was definitely fixed. Apparently, there was some administrative data on some people’s hard drives that was causing the issue. Firmware v2.41 fixes the problems.
Damn they got to they found out the problem pretty quick, well quicker than our predicted date. Also, another minor addition about v2.41 is that it “adds a new 4th “tab” to show your last played game, time and date, take a Look.”
Actually, that 4th tab was there in 2.40. It’s ONLY when you view someone’s profile on your Recently Met section of your friend list

It works no different from 2.4 to me. So far, so good.
