Wii Update v3.3 Now Available

Wii Image

Is your Wii blinking blue again, even though you haven’t touched it in months? That’s because Nintendo has released a new system update, bringing the console to version 3.3. Not a whole lot new in this update, but you can now move a Mii from the Mii Plaza to the Mii Parade.

More importantly, this update completely breaks the Twilight Princess game save hack which opened the door for a lot of homebrew on the Wii. If you’re one of the homebrew users, I’d recommend not updating. Word on the streets is that the update also completely breaks Freeloader usage.

I’m honestly a bit shocked it took Nintendo this long to plug the homebrew hole in the Wii system software. They’re bat-shit crazy over there about piracy (which isn’t a bad thing), and leaving this hole open for so long definitely let some piracy take over the Wii.

I haven’t updated my Wii yet, but if the Freeloader really is repelled by this update I’m going to be extremely pissed because there are some good games coming out in Japan geared towards hardcore gamers. The last time the Freeloader was said to be repelled by an update was a April Fool’s joke.
