Metal Gear Online - Bad for Multiple Users

MGS4 SS

Do you have more than one person using your PS3? Do you each have your own PSN name and account on the system? You might be a bit upset to hear that Konami is exploiting these users by charging you to create multiple characters for Metal Gear Online.

You get one free character per PS3 and can purchase an additional 3 characters for $6.99. That’s a bit much, in my opinion. Why even have this limit? No other game does anything like this either offline or online. If you have your own system profile and your own PSN name, that should be enough. There should be no penalty to having multiple users of a PS3 in the same house. That’s essentially what this is, a penalty for those people.

So don’t waste your time with the ridiculous Konami ID creation for a second user. If you aren’t ready to shell out even more money than you just spent on the game, you’re stuck with one online character for everyone in your house to use. Bad move, Konami. Bad move.

[Update] For anyone disagreeing that you can have multiple characters per system, check out screenshots stating you can’t here. I also created a new PS3 user account and PSN name as well as a new Konami ID to test this.

That’s like saying you can only use this mmo character when you play the game on my computer :/ I think it’s because of the Konomi IDs and stuff so they did this. At least its not worser than having to pay for weapons in the Bad Company beta.

@EHT - You don’t have to pay for weapons anymore in BF:BC anymore. You just get weapons earlier if you buy the gold edition which really doesn’t matter because personally I like unlocking weapons.

Also, this move by Konami is really stupid. I don’t know how many times I’ve used account recovery when I’m with friends so that we can both use our GT’s. If I had to pay like $7 at everyones house that would be horrible.

PS3 has just become that much more anti-social :)

Before you start to spread bad rumors about MGS4 in a weak attempt to bash the PS3 let me help explain what you failed to state. The limit of characters on MGO is limited to each Konami Game ID account, not each PS3. So if there are multiple users per PS3 all you need to do is get each user a Konami Game ID.

@prepareforglory: I hate to tell you, but you’re wrong. The character limit is console based. I have a second PSN account that I created a second Konami ID and I cannot make a new character with that ID because one has already been created on my PS3.

Haha looks like prepare didn’t do his research before he posted :) . Sucks to be wrong when you call out the OP of the post heh.

Guess he wasn’t bashing the PS3, but at least we know who the fanboy is here.

Haha Fragloser. Yeah, I wouldn’t have written this article without actually trying this on a second PSN name and Konami ID first.

For every cent I had when someone accuses LN of bashing on a certain company/console in an act of fanboyism when in fact they are wrong sigh.

@Fragloser, yeah I know I was referring to before they change the rule having to pay for weapons because it gained a lot of criticism.

Matt, yeah you’d be filthy rich at this point from what I’ve seen this past few months. How does the same person call you a fanboy on both articles for bashing the PS3 and then the 360. If so what is he a fanboy of? lmao this is getting pathetic no need to even respond to them..

Matt (and Loot Ninja in general) has been called a fanboy, accused of bashing the PS3, the 360 and the Wii. I think that narrows it down, Matt’s a Sega Fanboy!!!! Get your torches and pitchforks people!

Dammit, nostars, you got me. I have 7 (count them, seven) gold plated Sega Master Systems in my office. Those are surrounded by the platinum Sega CD and 32x systems because we all know those were the best things ever.

TBH, I still don’t see the humor responding to Nostars and Matt’s post with “How can you even consider yourself a sega fanboy without a dreamcast….. if it wasnt so easily hackable sega woulda gave the ps2 a good run as imo it was the better console..” Lol.. It is the internet, sometimes humor that doesn’t include sarcasm get to people well.

If people thought I honestly have 7 GOLD PLATED sega master systems, they’re completely insane.
