The Bourne Conspiracy PS3 Requires 5GB Install

Bourne PS3 Install

When will it all end? PS3 hard drives are gonna be full everywhere soon. Sure you can upgrade your hard drive, but do developers need to make 5GB installs all the time? The latest to share the hard drive is The Bourne Conspiracy, which shipped to retailers today from Sierra.

You would figure with the amount of bitching going on about installs that developers would cut it back a bit. I guess not.

    Yeah, it should stop, but I wouldn’t mind buying a bigger hard drive, it sounds pretty easy to change one, but that will cost some extra money out the ass.

    This is what I was saying all along. If they make game installs so big then the hard drive ends up kind of pointless because when all is said and done you will only have like 10GB left on it.

    Forced installs are a bad idea, if it’s an option though I have no problem.
    My main problem is it’ll become a crutch for lazy developers to make up for the BD drive being relatively slow. Surely content can be streamed while playing? If not, then why not just get rid of consoles altogether and create a PC based gaming system? GRaphics and sound-card slots, disc drive, Hard Drive and either wireless controller or wireless keyboard and mouse.
    I bought a console to AVOID faffing around with installs and patches…no wonder handheld gaming is so popular right now – back to basics with those.

    hey, as long as it makes the game run well, then so what? i’d rather have mandatory install than crappy games or developers saying “we could’ve done this or this” i know it eats up space, but you can only play so many games at a time. no need to be an install packrat, you can delete them w/out bothering your game saves. you may have to sit through another 5gb install when you want to play dmc4 again, but again, the flipside is much worse.

    HA you guys know that with a 360 you could play the game as soon as you put it in, the only thing that could stall you is a 20 second update that takes up what, 5 megs of space? and convienently makes room for more.

    What’s the big deal? I thought all the Microsoft fanboys were saying that Bluray is out and downloadable content is the future? If 5 gb get’s these flaming editors panties all twisted then what would a full-game install do the people who are complaining?

    @ EHT: Actually, it doesn’t cost a lot to change the hard drive. It’s a standard 2.5″ SATA HDD. So you can find deals almost anywhere. If you live in the US or Canada, try tigerdirect.com, they’re pretty good.

    again, on 360 you don’t need to install anything, at all, downloaded or disk, no installing whatsoever.

    @Andrew

    I know they’re pretty cheap since it’s a standard 2.5″ SATA HDD, but I was watching a video and I had a 1TB HDD in mind rofl!

    I would have to agree, having mandatory installs is fairly annoying. I am a huge PC gamer so I am use to it, but then again my pc has alot more storage then my ps3. I figure aslong as the game runs good, i dont care to much, but it would be nicer if they made it an option, like with UT3. They gave you the option to install the maps on your harddrive so they load faster but it wasn’t required. I like this feature more. I dont mind installs for big games like GTA and Gran Turismo, but Bourne isn’t exactly a AAA game.
