Seems like nowadays I cant really grasp what Nintendo is doing as far as their strategy. They have definitely focused on casual games and first party titles, they have neglected their online services and pretty much thumbed their noses at their user base.
They continue this trend of confusion by releasing their new Nintendo Channel and WiiWare which promises new games much like what we are used to on the XBLA or PSN, but also DS demos. Only thing is that the demos are not there forever, they are only available or certain time frames and are then yanked off. Why? Because f*ck you that’s why! Apparently Nintendo feels that if you want your demo you need to get on that as soon as possible or miss the boat.
Every time a Nintendo product gets launched it is automatically on back-order to create more hype around it. Wii Fit is no exception, people are lining up for this thing and I doubt anyone will play for it for more than a week, just look at your copy of Smash Brothers Brawl collecting dust in the corner.
I am quickly growing tired of Nintendo’s shenanigans, start releasing good games and cut out the gimmicks. Sad part is they are making money hands over fists.

Seriously Nintendo, I love ya, but my Wii needs something actually FUN to play. Wii Sports and Galaxy got old aaaagges ago.
I can play Wii sports here and there for casual fun, but Wii want hardcore games! I visit these Wii forums and I’m surprised that the members won’t admit that their Wiis are collecting dust. Enough with the fanboy shit and admit it already!
I really do not get you people, if you have this attitude towards Nintendo, then JUST DONT BUY THEIR STUFF.
Its that simple, if you got a Wii and you are complaining then its your own fault.
Maybe I’m the exception, but I use my Wii just as much as my other consoles.
I’ve been playing the tar out of Lost Winds (GREAT game!) as well as Mario Kart, Brawl and Okami. I doubt I’ll pick up Wii Fit, but I’m sure my wife will end up wanting it. She’s used DDR Hottest party to the point the mat is getting worn out so the wii board will be a welcome item for her.
As long as Nintendo WII owners stay quiet about their inferior online service and features, then nothing is ever going to change, I can honestly see Sony and Microsoft doing alot better then Nintendo is with their customers. Its like they dont want to spend any money on nice features like Sony and MS do. They just want to keep on selling to the “casual” gamer, that way they dont have to worry about the bitchin for such a low quality gaming experience.
LOL @ unplayed Brawl.
Complaining about the Wii not having an online system comparable to PSN or XBOX Live is a waste of time. If you don’t like it (Wii), don’t buy it. It’s that simple. Nintendo isn’t going to change for one ignorant little b*tch such as the author. And people like me don’t give a f*ck what people like this author think about Nintendo because people like me are on the same page as Nintendo. What’s that page you ask? It’s the f*ck-what-pathetic-blogging-douchebags-write-about-Nintendo page.
Al Zamora needs to get the f*ck off Nintendo’s back already. Bashing Nintendo is now considered to be a past time for lazy and uncreative author’s. Al Zamora is definately both.
I wish I had a gaming blog. So every week I can write a topic on how Nintendo is ruining the world. His copy of Brawl is dusty. I’m sorry you don’t have the basic skills of a gamer who plays fighters. Since Brawl, Mario Kart, Okami, Bloom Blox and WiiWare has come out. All with in a months time. So there are games to play on the Wii that are good and fun. Once Nintendo starts “Charging for their Online!” Then I will start demanding X-BoxLive Quality. Now for the Demo thing. Why keep a demo of a game that’s been out for months. When you can just have new release games on there instead. That seems like common sense to me. If you didn’t like the demo of the game when you first saw it. You probably will not get the game. How’s having the demo on there long after the fact going to change your mind. Oh I thought the demo sucked, but now 5 months later. I played it and realize I was wrong. For real what kind of sense that makes. Nintendo is just one of the many things we love to hate. Just like the NY Yankees, Dallas Cowboys, LA Lakers Etc etc. When they are on top we have a problem with it. When the are on the bottom. We like to point and laugh at them. Regardless Nintendo is always on every one’s mind.
@ binge - I see we have an internet tough guy here, man am I scared. Dude I put out my opinion, if you disagree that is up to you. Why are you so protective of NIntendo, do I smell fanboy? Someone can say something about any system and I wouldnt care eithr way, I state my opinion on the Wii and get labeled a heretic, hilarious.
@ the won - i can accept your points on the demo, but as fo my skills on Brawl I have to differ, that has nothing to do with it at all, the game just isnt fun playing single player and I dont like the online and dont have buddies over enough to play it, so for me it ccollects dust.
“If you don’t like it (Wii), don’t buy it. It’s that simple.”
Except… how are you supposed to know that BEFORE you buy it? Here is what you should have said instead:
“If you don’t like it (Wii), eBay it. It’s that simple.”
The thing with the demos is that it doesn’t make a lot of sense to have demos of games that have started to lose support at retail. You need to focus your demos on games that are prominent at retail. I think it only makes sense to cycle through them.
@ Orakga - LOL
Truth is I grew up on Nintendo, NES and SNES. So I ran out ot buy the Wii because of the kool new controls, etc. After playing with Wii Sports for a while it just lost the appeal for me, few games really utilize the motion controls and the Wii is geting more gimmicky, Wii FIt, etc.
Thank for writing this. More people need to realize that Nintendo has sold out, and is screwing their faithful userbase while trying to capture casuals who will stop playing the Wii a month after buying it. Sadly, Nintendo keeps relying on gimmicks, rehashing ideas they originally created on the NES 20 years ago, and creating fake software shortages (& hardware through diverting USA shipments to EU & JA even though the latter have enough supply). Let’s not even get started with rehashing the same sequels for 20 years instead of providing any new IPs that appeal beyond the casual gamer. Luckily, I saw this before purchasing a Wii, even though I was a hardcore Nintendo faithful for every console they released before it, for 25 years. So I did not waste my money on that pos.
Nintendo released a subpar console under the guise of innovation and originality. The fact is a lot of us fell for it. I have the Wii collecting dust in my living room, although for the next few weeks I will actively blame GTA IV for it. Aside from the DBZ games, Trauma Center and SSBB, nothing on the Wii has caught my attention except for Fit.
Yeah, if I would have known then what I know now, I would not have gotten the console. Shoot I would have waited a bit longer to get a PS3 as well.
