The new EA title out of their freshly created EA Freestyle camp is Facebreaker, a cartoonish style boxing game similar to Ready to Rumble. I have seen some clips of the characters and gameplay and it looks entertaining, but I hope it is more technical than a button-mashing orgy in order to knock the other guy out. Fight Night Round 3 was probably one of the best boxing games ever made because it made the fights realistic, you couldn’t just come out and swing like a wild animal to win, there was plenty of strategy and technique to the game.
We also will see Don King’s Prize Fighter coming soon and this is a more realistic style boxing game more in the style of Fight Night. Speaking of Fight Night we will also see the newest iteration in that franchise in Fight Night Round 4, which was just announced will have everyone’s favorite ear biting ex-champion, Mike Tyson. So that is a lot of boxing being announced and pushed but will they deliver?
Will Facebreaker bring some fun to boxing or will it come up short? Will Fight Night 4 bring more of that tactical boxing everyone loved? And will Don King and his fro have enough to make his boxing game stand out? I was personally hoping for a remake to Punch Out myself. I think it is high time to have Glass Joe get pummeled again, I wouldn’t even mind seeing it on the Wii since the controls scream Wiimote.

Write a Comment»Well it is for Wii lets see how that goes. Will it have better controls than Wii Sports? Lols at “but I hope it is more technical than a button-mashing orgy in order to knock the other guy out.” Fight Night Round 3 was definitively a strategic boxing game.
Not to mention Face Breaker is using the $500 million dollar engine “Euphoria”, also used in GTA IV. So I’ll take a peep at how Face Breaker is shaping up when more info is out.
