Based on our recent poll, it looks like more people than we thought are having issues with their copy of Grand Theft Auto IV. As of press time, 63% of you say you’re not having any issues at all with the game. That leaves the other 37% out in the cold until Rockstar comes up with a solid fix.
With 2,420 people voting, having 37% with issues is a lot. I’ve personally had one major lockup on the PS3 where I had to shut the system off at the switch in the back, otherwise it’s been fine. But I know a few people that can’t get past the opening cinematic. It’s a shame really.
Again, thanks to everyone who participated in the poll! We’re sending these results over to Rockstar to see if it can’t get thinks moving faster.

i think this poll exadurates the issue, i personally know 10 people with the game and not one has had a problem.
I don’t care so much what I get, it’s more important to hurt them as much as possible. I’ve already vowed to never buy another Rockstar game.
I am gonna try an experiment tonight. I have a friend who is bringing his copy over. He hasn’t had any probs, whereas I have had nothing but. We are going to see if his copy works in my ps3. I doubt it will, but it would be really nice to find out that by some crap luck all of these discs are bad, and that there is hope for all of us having issues. I dunno, anything’s worth a shot, right?

got gtaiv today fri 02 my local video shop had 12 copies? playin on ps3 60gb version, not one problem even after 8hrs gameplay…. pal version uk, and also it runs on my sharpe 47 hdtv aquos in 1080p, wont run in 640p whatever everyone says it runs at?
I know the freezing is making people go insane, but never vow to buy another Rockstar game again? Ok that’s your opinion. My opinion is that its a little over the top. What if they solved the problem and it”ll never happen again in another Rockstar game?

I just had to restart a new game after about 10 hours of play because it wouldn’t load my old one any more

2400 is NOT a true indication of how many are having problems. It’s not even enough of a number to have a true indication of the number of problems.
2400 people voting out of 5,000,000 copies sold (guesstimate) is not even 1% of the entire GTAIV gaming world.

I am sorry but that is the stupidest thing I have heard all night… If you take a poll with more people the results are more accurate so by your poll you would assume everyone is having a fine time playing GTA4 with no issues.. I hate to say it but wow… learn some stuff before you talk…
People have got to concider that this is the first game on the PS3 that Rockstar have produced. Give them a break and lets just hope this does not happen again.
I just hope a patch for this problem comes out soon.
Just had a problem last night. Would not load at all. Had to erase everything on my system and reinstall, not to happy about it.
MGP, give them a break? They had an extra five months after the delay was announced. They spent $100 million on the damn game! You think that would help pay for some decent beta testing. And cutting them some slack because it was their first PS3 game? Let’s see, wasn’t Resistance Insomniac’s first game on the PS3? It seemed to run pretty well. And what about Naughty Dog with Uncharted? That worked too! But you know what, I won’t worry about Rockstar’s next game messing up. Because I’m not giving them another chance.

The problem with this scenario is two things,1.there IS obvioulsy a problem.I am SICK and tired of hearing from the people not having the freezing problem.Just play your game and shut the F**k up!2.Is the simple fact that no one tied to the total design of this game wants to grow a pair and admit there is a problem.Much like the F**ks who dont have the freezing problems they act as if they dont give a shit.In reality,i think a class action is a little over kill[however good it may sound]but as consumers,avid gamers and loyal followers of the series and franchise,we GOT to devise SOMEKIND of plan or boycott to show these a**holes cant get away with this!

All asinine comments aside, there is supposedly a patch that comes out today. I wonder though if all they are working on are online and multiplayer issues… because I am not having those. I can’t play the game at all. This isn’t to say that I wouldn’t have problems, but I think the focus needs to be on the systems that don’t play the game at all.
I will be at work til 12am Central time, so I won’t be able to find out until then. Maybe if you guys aren’t busy with your lawyers or homework, you could report whether it works or not. Fingers are crossed.
