GTA V Too Big for Xbox 360?

With the year’s most anticipated game only a week away, it appears that speculation on the inevitable sequel is already happening. There were rumors and grumblings that the MS disc format was too small to hold a game of GTA IV’s size. Nevertheless, the game is finished and was made to fit. People are going to want bigger and better the next time around and thoughts on whether that is possible have started to percolate from Rockstar founder Dan Houser:

One of the problems with the 360, and it affects games like Grand Theft Auto if you think about how much content we put in the actual machine, is the fact that they don’t have a significantly larger storage medium than the previous systems. It’s a slightly bigger DVD disc.

The only remedy here is a two-disc format for MS. No one is going to want to buy an add-on and the ”old” systems cannot be made obsolete. This is down the road, but GTA V won’t be the first game to test the waters on storage issues.

They could do a multi-disc release, have you install a disc or two onto the 360 HDD and have one disc as the play disc. I know it’s tedious, but these consoles are glorified PCs anyway, and most PC games work this way.

your 20 gigs would fill up fast, unless you wanna spend 180 dollars on a 120 gig. I hope this size factor didn’t take anything away from the PS3 version.

the problem is also a problem with PS3’s i mean sure the disks hold more BUT you need to basically do a full install besides cinematics sure most of them came with bigger hd’s but at 5gig installs (and thats NOW) will fill them fast

The difference is that the PS3’s HDD is completely upgradeable.
You can buy a 500 gig HDD (for about $120) and replace the one in the PS3. The PS3 even comes with instructions on how up upgrade the HDD.

Sure you can just add a bigger HD the problem being it takes what 20 minutes to half an hour to instal most new titles on the ps3 now so i can look forward to 1hour installs when the games get bigger? Blueray obviously won over the movie studios but IMO as it stands right now is a crappy format for “next gen” gaming as it reads way to slow.

It may read to slow and it may not, but as people say these are all glamorized PC’s. And pretty much every PC game requires you to install it on the hdd. Don’t be surprised if Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft require you to install all games on thier next gen systems.

If I can wait 20 minutes for a XBLA or PSN game to download, I can wait 20 minutes for an install. I generally download games when I’m about to do something else, like work out. I can do the same with game installs. I don’t see the issue with an install.

Sure it’s nice to not have it, but it’s a one time thing, doesn’t really bother me… untill my hdd is full.

does it really matter? GTA IV isn’t even out yet, and they are already knocking about GTA V. I feel as though the next generation systems are gonna be out before it gets released.

^^Haha, reminds me of my work laptop. HDD filled up on it and I had to archive a bunch of project files that were taking up way too much space.

Can’t they like have 2 discs, 1 disc works like an installer to install the city or something. The second cd is the “real” playable CD, like you have to install similar to computers? just a thought

even tho this thread is old ill say it. why cant they put the games on harddrives instead of discs then when u buy it you get a hard drive and u just put it on the 360 and ur away..dunno how they would do the gamerscore thing but they would figure it out..
