Hey everybody! Remember this game? Yeah, you remember this game. Well you may or may not be glad to hear that after the Treyarchs fifth release in the COD series, all will be handed back to Infinity Ward. I for one welcome the return of the original developers - all I can hope for now is that Treyarch doesn’t screw up COD 5 like it did the series 3rd entry. For whatever reason the two studios have begun passing off COD to one another after every incarnation.
There are a few of you out there who get a little miffed at the trash talking being thrown Treyarchs way in regards to the series. But lets do a quick common sense comparison of both developers in regards to the franchise. Yeah?!
- Infinity Ward: Call Of Duty 2 is released and rocks the frickin’ casbah.
- Treyarch: Call Of Duty 3 is released and most certainly NOT rock anything resembling anything casbah-ish.
- Infinity Ward: Steps outside the series WWII comfort zone and releases Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare - enough said.
- Treyarch: Is scheduled to release Call Of Duty 5 and once again leap right back inside the world WWII. Which some people have called insane.
So long story short, after COD 5 Treyarch is stepping down from the series. Now I’m not saying that Treyarch sucks. It just sucks at Call Of Duty - especially since Infinity ward keeps laying down these great templates for the gameplay (which has always been my biggest gripe about COD 3).
Perhaps I’m being a touch too harsh (as will happen from time to time). But it seems to me that if a studio can’t handle the reigns it should give them up. Seeing as how Infinity ward had to re-negotiate its contract to retrieve the series it seems I’m not alone in my harshness.
But then again, COD 5 has not been released yet. Maybe I’ll be shoving my foot in my mouth. In fact, I hope I do. And maybe articles like this will somehow light a fire under the ass of a developer whos recent repetoir is full of unrealized potential.
See ya.

Write a Comment»No you’re not being harsh at all. Treyarch is retarded to go back to WWII. I hope they bomb and file for bankruptcy. Just so Infinity Ward can do what they do best.
I dont think that treyarch has failed miserably. I played COD 3 quite a bit with a bunch of buddies and enjoyed it. I have played the world at war beta since it came out and there are plenty of people who have come over from modern warefare and are enjoying the game. I dont know exactly what treyarchs thought was with jumping back into the wwII theatre but i do assume that they probably wanted to release it with the upgraded graphics as call of duty 3 was a big hit with quite a few people. A lot of people missed capture the flag as well which has been brough back in world at war. I do think in general that game manufacturers bash the hell out of making games with world war 1 and 2 and they probably should have steered away from it a bit but i do believe it is going to be a hit al the same. they have added some new things to it and anyone who likes playing FPS with a group of friends and wants a new set of guns, fresh maps, and doesnt care honestly about where the game is in history and just enjoys shooting up people online and the occasional trash talking while killing people vritually with a group of friends will play the game. I dont think that it will match up to modern warfares potential in sales, but that is yet to be seen in the next couple of days. I think that a lot of people who enjoyed playing gears of war will be more enthused with gears of war 2 and world at war will fall behind. It might have been a logistally bad thing for treyarch to release after the new gears of war. But, i think gears is going to pull a lot more people then the new COD due to its fresh look. By the way, Gears of war 2 is awesome. But I love FPS games and have a bunch of buddies who I play with and will own both games anyways. I cant stand playing the same game for a long time and can use the switch between the two to keep myself from being borded out by either game.
