So we had told you that the folks at Guinness World Records were hosting an event in Brooklyn, so we decided to check it out. Shit we even participated in one of the events, good times. I attended this event with our Associate Writer Travis, who pretty much was my drinking partner/ camera guy.
Here are the events again:
- Fastest Time to Beat Five Boards on Ms. Pac Man
- Fastest Time to Beat Five Boards on Tapper
- Highest Out-Run Score
- Highest Ghosts ‘n Goblins Score
- Highest Donkey Kong Score Without Using the Hammer
We decided we would participate in the Tapper event and try our luck hurling beers down a table for the record. Since I was trying for the record, I figured I would try to practice a bit and get my skills up one quarter at a time. Little did I know that as I was playing, one of the Guinness judges was watching and asked if I wanted to start, to which I said sure. The goal was the fastest time to beat the first 5 boards of Tapper and the clock would start as soon as I got control of the little bartender. I threw my quarter in and finished all 5 boards in 6 minutes. Travis was watching and as soon as I was done left to take a leak. Feeling proud I stepped away and a little girl stepped up to play. She crushed my time with a whopping 1 minute and 30 second time, I quickly hid. She crushed my time faster than Travis could get back form the bathroom.
Two other guys went and couldn’t touch her time until this one guy stepped up and nailed the record at 1 minute and 23 seconds to blow through 5 boards. Kudos to that guy, although after talking to him for a few he said if he held the record he would get a tattoo of the bartender, wonder if he really is keeping his word. I never knew that Tapper had such hardcore fans that could rock it out that bad, but now I know.
The Guinness folks were a good crew and kept the flow of games moving well. Here are some shots of the action and of me getting crushed by the little girl.

So 5 new records were set last night in front of our very eyes, seeing as there were no current records for the 5 events. The events were chosen to keep games moving quickly form participant to participant.
The event was a lot of fun and there was plenty of gamers there both playing and spectating. We look forward to the next event. Special thanks to the Associate Writer, this picture says it all.

Write a Comment»Dude, is that guy in the photo taller than the arcade or is that a small arcade?
Maybe its just that I look mad short when I stand next to an arcade…LOL
That’s Al playing Tapper. He’s 6′3″ I think. Hung like a light switch, though
Tall guys are Hot. I never dated anyone under 6′0 but I just looked up the meaning of “hung like a light switch” cause I never heard of it. The urban dictionary (Ive heard of hung like a horse though) defined it as having a very small, short, ying yang. NO THANK YOU!!!
Im increasing my vocab. on this site…LOL
