EB Canada Still Running “Return Haze” Promotion

Haze Promo

EB Games in Canada was offering their customers a way out if they had purchased Haze for PS3 and wanted to return the game. A full refund was to be offered by the store IF the game was preordered and return with receipt within 7 days of purchase. This policy was more or less a free week rental and seen as a testament of the game not worthy of an outright purchase. Ubisoft was perturbed to say the least and called for the promotion to be cancelled. EB Canada obliged, or so we thought.

It turns out that the promotion is still active albeit with a new caveat. They are so confident that you will love the game, and NOT return it, they will give you the same considerations as before. It seems that EB Canada may be placating Ubisoft here. Why would this promotion even be necessary. Having to hedge your bets to sell an already anticipated product seems unnecessary. Is this a savvy marketing move or is EB Games motorboatin’ sons of bitches for defying a huge studios wishes?

Thanks to James Riley for sending this in!

LOL, I don’t get the logic of this deal. If they are so confident you will absolutely LOVE the game, why not double the price instead?

Wow, I love how you wrote this like you knew what you were talking about. Ubi Soft fully supported this promo and payed for the advertising space. EB Canada runs this on games all the time including Soul Calibur 4, Star Wars Force Unleashed & now WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 09. All sponsered by the vendors. Its no skin off there back. Don’t you get it? It increases sales for that game. Its EB giving you trade in credit for the full value. You buy it for 59.99 you get 59.99 in trade credit. You now have to buy another game, and ubi soft in this case doesn’t lose a sale because it wasn’t returned, it was traded in. Then 4 weeks later when many copies have been traded in as well for the regular trade in whatever it might be, and when averaged out over all the copies traded in, they can sell if for there usual used price and make money on all the copies. Not as high as a profit margin as it would be if they weren’t running this deal, but profit non the less.

You think vendors hate this deal? Guess again. As it says they are confident you’ll like it. Sure haze sucked ass, but very few people still trade them in. Maybe you should learn more about what your writing about before you write it and look like a moron.
