News: Resident Evil Zero - Japanese Release

Release Date: May 29th (Japan) TBA (U.S.) Developer: Capcom

Damn, Capcom doesn’t screw around these days does it? Only two months after its announcement (late February) the Japanese people will be receiving the Wii port of Biohazard Zero (Resident Evil here in the states). When it was released the first time for the Gamecube (Nov. 10th, 2002) it had less-than-steller reception across the pond. Nevertheless, it was a solid addition to the series with lots to offer in the way of storyline and action - albeit with that ‘been there-done that’ kind of feel. Which is probably why it didn’t do well in the states.

Anyways.

In the link I’ve included a trailer of the Gamecube version for those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about. And for those of you who do…what the hell, check it out anyways - it’s still pretty damn cool.

So there you have it.

Hopefully this will make its way stateside. The matter of its release over this end had been kind of…sketchy..at best. I don’t see why Capcom wouldn’t. With the success of the R.E.4 port, what have they got to lose?

So…yeah. Let us know how you feel people. Should this even be released over here? And if it is, should anyone care? Let’s hear from those who have played this and those who don’t - I’d like to hear a from a nice range of perspectives.

Mmyep.

Durka!!

Not sure I fully understand why this game needs to be re-released again. It came out on the Gamecube, last generation. The game is fully BC on the Wii. Why release it yet again? Will the Wii controls make that much of a difference?

I think that if the Wii controls were innovative enough, the game would absolutely be worth a purchase..at 29.99. The thing that mystifies me is how could you do a control scheme that makes sense? It worked for RE4 because the over-the-shoulder view was already in place in the original game. How the hell can you do make a 3rd person view work with point and click after the ease of RE4s controls? The whole ‘up is forward’ thing is completely antiquated at this point…so what’s up?!

It was a great game, and stayed true to the real resident evil of being stationary 3rd person, so yeah, my question is… how are the wii controls going to work?
