News: The Real-Life ‘SimCity’

So this is what the world has come to people. Love it or hate it (I personally love it) ‘SimCity’ as a concept has come to pass in the real world.

It is called Dubai. Step inside yeah?

O.K. so beyond the comparison to SimCity this isn’t really videogame news. But I believe the fact that any comparison can be made at all to the extreme end of the game is a truly incredible/ frightening thing.

I mean for Christs sake people, they’re making their own islands. I’m not talking about some puny island in Hawaii, these fucking things can be seen from space…I mean clearly. Damn!!

Here’s a quick example of what I’m talking about.

Before (1990).

Concept for 2009 (just about finished).

Concept for the largest of the three planned ‘Palm’ islands.

You haven’t even seen the pics for the ‘World Islands’. Each islands cost is estimated between 25-30,000,000 dollars each (around a hundred or so islands). Uugh, just check the site huh?

I want an island that looks like Drunk Pandas in a Garfield suit. Is that Odd? Hmm.

I was watching a show literally 2-3 days ago about the making of The World islands. It was either History HD or National Geographic HD. Things are insane. They were completed in January 2008

I wonder how they paid for these things? Oh right, they have no military and no function as a country except for golf tournaments. These things are impressive, but it must be nice be able to spend all of your money random shit.

dude I wanna play some sim city now! Didn’t 3000 and Societies suck though? I think the only good ones are like 2000 and 4.
