oh, so it’s a button masher.
It’s by no means a button masher. You have to keep rhythm with certain 4 button sequences that perform certain actions for the characters. Mashing buttons will get you absolutely nowhere

You can go ahead and try, but unless you hit the proper button combination in the exact proper time, the Patapons will not respond and you will not move, attack, defend, etc.
Then I shall be a slave-master, and the patapon will be my subjects. They shall fear my whips over your drums.
