I know, I know, another format war related post, but alas, this is news. I also just set the record for the most commas legally used in a sentence. Anyway, as the death of the HD-DVD seems to become an inevitable truth, Best Buy has decided to pick a favorite child:
Because we believe that Blu-ray is fast emerging as that single format, we have decided to focus on Blu-ray products,” Brian Dunn, Best Buy’s president and chief operating officer, said in a statement.
The reason behind this, you better sit down…Best Buy believes that the consumer will benefit from a single HD format. Well, shave off my pubes and punch me in the face.

I can’t say I blame em for finally picking a side. Things look worse and worse for HD-DVD.
HD-DVD issued a press release in response to this and Netflix. It was a complete waste. BluRay has clearly won the format war, but HD-DVD just doesn’t want to die
goddammit, go to hell blue people.
lol, why the hate? I wonder if betamax fans were as angry when vhs won that format war.
dude, companies aren’t suppose to get involved in a format war, you’re suppose to let them out-format each other, thats how you get newer stuff.
There’s nothing to “out-format”. This isn’t like the console wars. Unless one format prevails, everyone loses. The customer decided, as did the movie studios, on BluRay. Retailers are responding as such
you and your big wordz
The retailers did get invloved in the beta vs vhs days. Stores would push one or the other. The rest is history.
I think mister needles invested money into hd-dvd. Which if so, i’m sorry to say that. But Blu-ray is the superior format, and it should win. And it will.
was it that obvious?
