In case you aren’t keen to installing Linux yourself, Yellow Dog Linux will be selling 80GB PS3 systems with their newest v6.0 OS pre-installed.
Yellow Dog is one of the biggest Linux distros for the PS3. If you’re a fan of messing around with the terminal and trying your hand at Linux, you can either partition your hard drive and install it yourself or buy one direct from Yellow Dog.
Currently, there’s no reason for most gamers to install Linux on the PS3. There’s no good homebrew available yet and you have to reformat your hard drive, so you’ll need an external drive to back up all your saves, videos, demos, etc. When some good apps become available, it might be more worth while.

I’m about to grab one of these, hope it’d be worth it. I’ve been saving up for awhile
I want to install linux on my PS3, but I’m waiting until I upgrade to a larger HDD.
