There has been a lot of Wii-bashing as of late by both people and publication. How is it that the people singing the praises of something or someone seem to be the same people who act as the harbingers of doom a short time later? “It can only go downhill from here” people cry.

Are you serious? Has it come to this so soon? People are still scrambling around like assholes to find the damn things and you’re going to sit there and say the end is neigh? Are you a crackhead? Is that what it is? The crack? How sad for you. Huh.

Anyways.

So word around the campfire is that Ubisoft has a few super secret ‘kill your family if they are told’ kind of games being developed behind closed doors. The campfire being a recent interview with Yannis Mallat, the CEO of Ubisoft’s Montreal studio - the aspect of Wii software development was only mentioned a few times, but what was said was enough to pique curiosities.

Okay, maybe not that level of severity but still. No one knows what games they are or what they entail as far as premise. But the fact that no one seems to know anything doesn’t dull the point that a lot of people are excited about these mysterious apps. Which leads me to believe that the people that do know something have let enough out to get people riled up.

Yannis Mallat of Ubisoft has said that the company has big plans for the system. He uses the examples of Legend of Zelda and Red Steel (both of which has hit the 1.2 million sales mark) to show that ‘casual games’ are not the only type to show success in the casual market.

Of course until we know for sure what the man is talking about it’s all speculation (he did say that adventure games show a lot of potential on the system). For some it seems that it’s only the beginning for Nintendos little console. I for one agree.
