Lego themed video games friend or foe?

Lego BatmanSeems with the recent success of the Lego Themed Star Wars video games, all kinds of franchises are trying to cash in now. There is soon to come a Lego Batman and a Lego Indiana Jones video game as well. This makes me think that there will be a flood gate of more of these clones to come as well, perhaps Lego Spiderman and Superman or even Harry Potter?

The Lego games do have a certain appeal especially in the humor department, but will fans and gamers flock to more Lego games? The Star Wars game was pretty fun and played very well as a coop game and lets face it who didn’t like playing as Chewbaca and ripping the arms off of StormTroopers? But once the nostalgia and the comedy run out what you are left with is a kid game and I am not sure that Indiana Jones will have the same pull as Star Wars, Batman may especially with some of the screenshots we have scene of Scorpion and the Joker, as well as the ability to play through the game as a bad guy.

I personally love the Lego-themed games. They are family friendly, funny, and all-around entertaining. Some parents are sensistive about what their kids should be seeing in a game, namely violence. If these Lego-themed titles can make something violent like Star Wars or Indiana Jones accessible to children, then I am all for it.
