Being able to install games on the PS3 can be a great thing. Annoying load times will be a thing of the past. However, when DMC4 is installed, people disagree. The game takes 21 minutes to install and you can watch a video about the previous games. Okay. According to early reports, the load times for the PS3 after installation are only a few seconds shorter than the Xbox 360 version which is not installed. Capcom had this statement:
Once installed,the PS3 version of the game has near-Super Nintendo speed load times. If you don’t want to watch the ‘Previously, on Devil May Cry…’ portion of the install process, go make a sandwich and grab a soda, then come on back.
I am definitely support his pro-sandwich platform, but if the load times are barely different, then why is your game eating up HDD space? The time is not a factor for me, its the finite area I have in which to save things that this is eating into.

Yet another piece of overwhelming evidence that the PS3 is just a five year old who insists on having the sniper, yet can’t do jack shit. While 360 is awesome.
I don’t think it was ever advertised that installing the game would result in faster loading times than the 360. It results in faster loading times on the PS3 than it would *without* being installed on the PS3. In fact, Capcom thinks it’s so much better than just running it off the BluRay that they don’t even make it an optional install.
Have to agree with needles here, another reason I can’t seem to dish out half my bank account for console built on hype. 360 has it all, and cheaper. Regardless of load times, this game looks amazing and the game play is flawless. Only played it on the 360 so far, doubt the PS3 can be much better if at all.
I think the reason for the installs is the slow data transfer rate of the PS3’s blu-ray player. I can live with the inital install, but a mini game would be preferable to watching a video of what I played a few years ago.
Wow maybe everyone made the wrong decision to switch to fag-ray? Maybe in a few years fag-ray players will have loading time.
The newer standalone bluray players feature faster read/data transfer speeds.
newer, mean ps3 will suck, and when compared to future devices, will continue tosuck in the coming years.
