Regarding the post that had been stirring up some shit about the pre-order-only content for Lost Odyssey. It is now available for download on XBL sometime in the spring.
Many people had gotten upset at the idea that they would not get the full game unless forced to pre-order (myself included). Now they tell us we can get the content later. I have to ask - isn’t it just as bad that they remove chunks of the game in order to make extra money? Maybe I’m making too much out of this, who knows. It just sounds like bullshit to me. I know that the way things work sometimes, but can’t I just buy a friggin’ game anymore?
It was no surprise to me that they rip out maps from Halo 3 and sell them on the marketplace - it’s their cash cow for god sakes. But to take out chunks from Lost Odyssey and sell them just seems shitty - I just spent $60 on a goddam game! I can see if new content was created and then sold as an add-on like Oblivion. But to practically come right out and say ‘we took this out of the game - now pay money for it later’ just seems so blatantly greedy it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Ugh, I know things are changing rapidly in the game industry - as they always do - but this direction I don’t like. Just give me the game I paid for…please.
Durka.

If they purposely withhold content to make us pay for it, they are definitely not giving us a complete title. I won’t be buying the game if they pull that crap. IMHO we should not be practically strong-armed into preordering.
I’ll pass on this game entirely if they persist in handling it this way. The worst part about this whole deal is that it’s setting a precedent where developers will get lazier and lazier, putting out incomplete games when they know they can charge us for the content later.
And in some cases they will withhold content on purpose. I heard the next GTA is going to be like that, where they already have content ready but will not be releasing it with the game, instead opting to hold it for an extra month and charging for a download.
In my case, the end result will be me not buying certain games when I know they they have purposely held back on us just to milk us. It may be sound financial strategy on their part to charge us ala carte for content that could’ve been included at release, but the fact of the matter is that they could package it in, in the first place.
Stuff developers come up with later is no big deal, and I don’t mind that they charge for that. What I do mind is when they have the content ready but keep it on a shelf until a month after a game releases, just so they can make extra money off of us.
