According to Sony, they’re working on an achievement system that will “go well beyond a single score.” Eric Lempel, PlayStation Network director of operations, let the cat out of the bag in an interview with Next-Gen.
I know that an achievement system is very important to our consumers. With Home, and in addition to Home, we have some very exciting programs planned to recognize our consumers gaming skills and loyalty in new ways that go well beyond a single score.
We all knew about how Home will integrate a Trophy Room, which will allow users to show off trophies they earn in games. But now we’re talking outside of Home as well? Could be pretty cool. Does this mean we’ll be seeing PS3 GamerCards online sometime soon? Only time will tell. Maybe we’ll learn more at GDC.

I just hope that once they implement all of this one-upedness they don’t start charging for the service.
Sony has stated numerous time they will not charge for thier network. There may be some optional special services they will charge for but not the basic network. I liek how Sony is constantly trying to upgrade thier system and I think they have come along way. Still not at the level of XBL, but I only see good things coming, and as it goes the PS3 is getting better day by day. I think this is the year Sony can really turn things around, and start to come out on top. Only time will tell.
eh, achievements are ok but too many people are obsessed with meeting the requirements. It’ll be nice but i don’t think it’s a big deal.
OH YOU FUCKING JAPANESE ASSHOLES, FUCK YOUR COUCHES, YOU SNEAKY BASTARDS!!!!!!1!

i don’t think any PS3 gamer has found the PSN superior over XBL.. (i know i didn’t).. in fact i think XBL is superior over PSN.. and lots of people want the formula of XBL on PSN!!
