Well the rhythm genre has always existed, but it seems as if within the last few years they are close to reaching their pinacle. Rhythm games are no longer just a fad, but a genre much like RPG’s and shooters with an extremely strong player base. What is you favorite rhythm based franchise?
There have been some rhythm games that have been before their time and others that are just horrible, but they all provide some level of fun. I think these few franchises have really stepped up and deserve the top honors.

Write a Comment»I would go with Rock Band, followed by Guitar Hero, and then Singstar.
I prefer Guitar hero then DDR, I hate rock band.
I picked Elite Beat Agents, but my decision includes the two Ouendan games.
Best Fun.
hate for RockBand, wow I am surprised, I think htat is the firs titme I have heard that. I think GH oppened up the doors wide open for the genre, that and DDR.
WHAT?? No Bust A Move: Dance & Rhythm Action or Bust a Move 2: Dance Tengoku Mix??? That’s rubbish. BY FAR the best two rhythm games before the invention of the peripheral. If Parappa is up there, so should they.
Better than those listed? Not saying that. But they should be options……..THE JAPANESE versions that is (the translated/changed USA music blew).
Yeah i went with more mainstream franchises, thats why i didnt include Um Jamma Lammy and games like that hehehehe.
gitaroo man is the best rhythm game ever, i cant even believe it wasnt even in the list
Samba De Amigo should have been on the list. Maraca controllers peoples, friggin maracas!
What about Amplitude/Frequency?
WHAT ABOUT THE CHA-CHA!!!
rockband, love the drums
