Just a quick quip here about a info release on the storyline for Bioshock 2. Apparently its going to be a prequel! An unknown source with 2K games has said that Bioshock 2 is now in Pre-production phase with a release around summer 2009. I think that witnessing the detailed events surrounding the collapse of the infamous underwater utopia is an interesting premise. If its done right of course.
So, what do you think everybody? Let us know what you would like to see in the final product. You never know who’s reading.
Durka.

I hope it goes back even further than the collapse, to the actual brainstorming and construction of that accursed structure.
I don’t know, it seems like all the magic has already been experienced, what more could they do?
For anyone old enough to remember…
System Shock 2 was clearly an evolution from System Shock. In a similar environment to SS, SS2 came and pushed the game’s world further, provided a deeper story line, intensified gameplay, created new challenges for players and added new dimensions to RPG and FPS genres, all with decent graphics to boot. I still try to set my current PC’s to run SS2 it was that great of a game. They took a great concept and created something even better.
I do feel Bioshock was easily the best game I’ve played in a long time, but I am biased as I did buy my 360 just for this game. That being said I think everyone knows the praise I would deliver so I’m really not going to waste any more time on it, I’ll just say what was not the greatest about the game.
I was let down buy the fact the game was no where near as challenging as SS2. There were not as many mad dashes for ammo, guns jamming, desperate melee attacks, or side stories/goals as SS2. While BioShock was scary/intimidating in parts there weren’t as many points where you could hear an angry Big Daddy groan from down a hallway, not know if they were in front or behind, and realize you only have 2 shotgun shells left. You didn’t have to be as creative as resources were abundant. While having all the items and making it easier did make the game more mainstream and allow for a wider audience to play = more successful game = more copies sold = more profits. I hope a BioShock 2 wouldn’t stoop too low and just churn out a game on the same engine, similar story, gameplay, etc to cash in on the momentum of the franchise without adding new environments, new challenges, game mechanics such as the class system from SS2 and co-op play (clutch).
SS2 was a huge leap forward from SS. I would expect the same from BioShock 2 it being the self proclaimed “spiritual successor” to the SS series. It took 5 years for SS2 to come out after SS, which comprised of 2 years in development. I would be seriously disappointed if BioShock 2 was just a few new levels and a new twist to the plot.
Yeah enough said, back to CoD4
