Mad Catz Secures Rights to Make Rock Band Peripherals

Anyone who is unhappy with the musical instruments that comes with the beloved Rock Band game can rejoice. Sometime in the first half of this year, Mad Catz will release every peripheral for every console that Rock Band can be played on. This includes wired and wireless guitars, professional quality drum set, and top notch microphone. Here is a direct quote from Darren Richardson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Catz, courtesy of Gameargus.

This agreement with MTV Games represents a natural opportunity for Mad Catz to combine our core competencies of producing and distributing high-quality accessories with the entertaining experience of Rock Band’s interactive controllers,”

You have to love third parties throwing their hat in the mix. It always benefits the gamer because we are given a choice as opposed to settling for what is already there.

  1. Nice! I’d love to get my hands on another guitar for PS3 to complete my Rock Band… band. The DLC and everything for this game has been outstanding.

Now if only Activision and MTV can get their shit straight and allow the guitars from each others games to work universally

  2. eh, I think MadCatz does a fine job on their stuff, more power to them.

Yay that a third party is making the peripherals. Boo that it’s Mad Catz, I have had nothing but bad times with their third party junk (from flimsy controllers to POS memory cards that corrupt data on their own).

I’m a little bit on the border with this one. When I was younger I had the madcatz gameboy light. You remember the one that would clip on the top of the gameboy color, and then it had the whole magnifying glass and light setup. That worked pretty well, a little flimsy, but worked well. As for other peripherals i’ve bought from them. I’ve had nothing but problems. My most recent purchase lasted about a year. “Mad Catz Xbox 360 Controller” Wired mind you, at first it worked great. Then suddenly I noticed a steep decline in performance when it came to button mashing games and such. Also, the cover of the thumb pad’s tend to go missing. That can be annoying when your constantly moving around with the same controller. But yeah this is my rant; Personally I feel it’s not worth pissing your money away on a madcatz item. If you want a decent controller, just spend the extra money and get the one directly from the company. Little more expensive but…..hey..long run….you won’t regret it.
