We’ve had reports coming in over the past week of gamers not being able to connect to Xbox Live. While I haven’t seen any problems myself, a couple members of our staff have seen issues trying to get into games. According to Xbox.com right now:
Users may experience intermittent issues with tournaments, posting statistics, matchmaking, and sending messages. Additionally Halo 3 users may experience issues joining matches or posting statistics. We are aware of the issue and are actively working towards a resolution. We apologize for any inconvenience.
It seems like Live has been having some issues ever since Halo 3 was released. Has Microsoft hit a level of usage that the current servers can’t keep up with? It certainly seems that way. Maybe it’s time for some back end upgrades? We’ll keep you posted on what we hear about the status of the service. If you’ve had any problems, be sure to let us know in the comments.
Yes – I can confirm it is having problems. When I turn on my xbox, I have to click the connect to xbox live button, then I have to wait 30sec – 1min for it to actually connect…
So far PS3 has had better service and they don’t pay

I’ve been having “troubles” since the Fall Update where it takes a while for the blades to load. I get the spinning circle and Loading after I sign in. It’s annoying that it does that now. I wonder if it’s due to server load.
My best guess is there servers have hit max capacity and they can’t handle the strain of so many users. It’s time to upgrade and add more servers to the load balancing clusters.
Yea they really need to add some more servers. I think that they should just take Xbox Live off for like 2 days, credit us for those 2 days of XBL that we miss, and double the servers to accommodate all of the users.
Or they could just add servers now…
i’ve been playing a lot of CoD4 and last night started to have some issues. It kept punting me from games, dropping me out of lobbies, and once in the lobby it wouldn’t add new players and the few games that actually got started everyone would get punted from. Heard a lot of other players were facing the same situation. After 20 minutes of that crap I decided time was better spent watching top gear.
I had heard that the issues were fixed yesterday around dinner time… I guess not
Microsoft really needs to step it up here. Live is their flagship product and they need to make sure it’s not running like shit for long periods of time. I’ve been too busy playing Wii and PS3 right now (Super Mario Galaxy and Rock Band), so I haven’t been using my 360 as much as normal. That’ll change next Wednesday when Metal Slug 3 comes out. I don’t want to have any issues when I try to download this.
