It is not news that the Xbox 360 has some serious tech issues and it breaks a lot more than it should. Fine. MS has changed the chip configuration and there are some benefits to see if the Xbox 360 you are about to buy is the right one.
Here is how:
All you need to do is look at the UPC symbol and see the 175W, which is the wattage for the newer power supply. This confirms that a Falcon chip is inside and not the Zephyr, which is an older model.
The Falcon chipped models have a much less chance of failing due to aluminum heat sinks and uses much less power so will be a lot quieter.
So this Holiday Season, make it a Falcon if you can. Thanks to www.falz.net for the close up.

mine says team cson…203 watts..lot 0728..manufactured…07/18/2007…but so far it hasnt froze or given me da rrod….i keep a little fan blowin air to it next to it….i can play for hours nonstop and itll just feel warm…so i think that microsofts has that whole rrod thing fixed maybe…i have a friend dat has his 360 since launch…and it hasnt give him the rrod…

I bought and XBox 360 Go Big Elite a week ago (0905/2008). I am currently stationed overseas and thought that I would get the better deal to get the Elite packaged with the Forza and MUA. I had no idea that there were problems with them. My question for anyone, is this the older model. I contacted M$ and they stated that ALL Elites were gen 3 and they were the new processor. They will NOT exchange it unless there is an error and they would replace it with a refurb model. Also the MFD is 06/14/2007 and I don’t even have the full 3 year warranty on this.
The stickers don’t look to be altered and they are different on the box. Than others posted.

When I did the flashight test, it showed to have the 3 rings flat and the PSU was 203W. Also the DVD tray was the LG brand.
Hello, I happen to have a white XBox 360 and it does not say 175w or 203w anywhere on this XBox how do I tell which one I need to use? the date on this is 8-10-06 and all it show is 12V DC, 16.5A ;5Vsb, 1A and someone throw in dvd remote there a sticker on the back that say RUN CD FIRST before connecting cable…. I bought a arcade version a little bit before Christmas and i checked the sticker on the back and it does not state the power supply wattage (i have no idea why it doesn’t, but it doesn’t) Is there any other way to check for someone who isn’t too fluent in the workings of the 360?
i have an ilite 360 at the time i bought it in 10/07 i didnt think to look at the box to c if i had the new chip in it but i went on line and it said u can check the back of yr power brick it does say 175w on it and it was the xbox that came in that bundle pack so let me no thanks.Now I also read online about another updated 360 it called the jasper anyone else hear about it let me no.
From what ive been told the elite systems are exactly the same build as any other system except for the color, and the big hardrives.. Is this correct? Is an Elite less likely to die than say the arcade version???
I just got mine from ebay today, its refurbished, What if my power brick says 150w on it ? what does that mean ? it runs a whole hell of alot quiter than my old one so i would think it must be the falcon
I got an elite shortly before Christmas last year. It has a manufacture date of April 30, 2008 on it. Did they start or stop manufacturing them with the falcon chips before or after a certain date?
I also noticed that mine has a much brighter light on the power brick than does my brother’s, which is an older one from Oct 2007.
I haven’t really noticed a difference in how loud it runs, but it doesn’t get hot and I’m not using a fan with it.
My xbox 360 has a build date of August 23rd 2007, does this one have the falcon chip?

I just bought my second xbox 360. It was manufactured this year(2009) but doesn’t have the 175w on the box. It’s the pro(60g) console. Do you think it’s a falcon…and do you think it will last being that it’s a 2009 model? Thanx.
