An unannounced update of the v2.10 firmware on the PS3 and v3.80 firmware on the PSP is that ALL PS1 games work for Remote Play. This includes downloaded titles and games from disc.
This is huge news for PS3 and PSP owners. I just played Crash Bandicoot from download via Remote Play as well as Gran Turismo 2 from disc and both worked.
Stay tuned as we try to get more information from Sony.

Can anyone let me know how exactly the Remote Play works with the PS3 and the PSP? I have heard a lot about it but I am not exactly sure how it works.
The reason I ask is that I am pretty sure I am going to be picking up a PS3 in the upcoming week and am wondering if it will be worth it to also pick up a new PSP along with it.
Any information would be great. Thanks guys!
Remote play allows you to use functions on your PS3 like you were sitting in front of it. Once you connect the PSP via Remote Play, you can watch videos on the PS3 or streamed from the network, same with music and pictures. Certain PSN download games allow you to play the game on the PSP while connected via remote play. This is now the case for all PS1 games. Technically, you could connect with Remote Play over the internet from anywhere in the world and play a game that’s on your PS3 hard drive or a disc in the tray. Lair also supports remote play, which is the only full PS3 game to support the feature.
Hope that answers the question.
Does it work with PS2 games? I’ watching the Ranger game and it’s too good to switch away from.
There’s no support for PS2 games right now. I spoke with Al DeLeon over at SCEA and he indicated they “haven’t announced any plans to offer this feature for PS2 titles”…. this could mean it’s something coming down the line, but I wouldn’t hold your breath for it.
That’s great news, now, to get my PS1 games back from my nephew.
