Well, it took longer than I expected. But Sony has released some words on their incredibly sad showing in last months NPD report. Its not surprising. The PS3 (shown above being used as a grill for no real reason) placed dead last in the most important shopping month of the year, was outsold again by the PS2 and the combined sales of all of their gaming hardware was outdone by the Nintendo DS. I’m not personally saying that the PS3 sucks – I like the system – but damn, those are some sorry stats.
The most difficult thing for Sony I think was to put a positive spin on such a grim development.
Let’s see how that turned out , yeah?
Sony stated that from October combined PlayStation sales were up 160%, that there was a 285% spike in sales for the PS3 over the previous month and that their was a 128% increase for the month in their total software revenue. Apparently three PS3 titles made it into the top 10 as well.
Well, when they say it like that, it doesn’t seem that bad at all. Good even.
GO SONY!!!
Durka.

I think the PS3 and PSP sold well for this month. Given the strong uphill battle that Sony as with the image of the PS3, it’s making a big turnout. If you take a look at November 2006 NPD data, the PS3 is about on par with Xbox 360 sales throughout it’s first year. People keep forgetting that when they quote total sales numbers for the consoles.
I am amazed that the PS2 is still selling so well. I think Sony needs to cut ties with the system in a sense. There are still good games coming for the system, which is actually hurting PS3 sales. I think all PS2 developer should have ceased last year and all titles converted to PS3 titles
