It appears that Sony has now allowed developers to increase processing speed for the PSP. The PSP has been running at 222mhz. Now with the new processing agenda, the PSP can now be run at 333mhz. Now its true that there is a much greater potential graphically. But there are some downsides to these ‘improvements’.
As you can see in this video for the new G.O.W., The processing power yields some definite advantages. But as we all know, more power, more heat. We also can’t forget about power consumption (its not as if the PSP isn’t already getting spanked in this category by the DS….amongst other things…anyways). So buy another battery, you’ll probably need it…and hope it doesn’t burst into flames and engulf your hip or something with the beefed up processing. Word.
Its no surprise that neither of these issues have been addressed so far. And although this decision has its pluses, I think that Sony should think twice before making this a regular practice.
Use it for God Of War though. Man does that look sweet. Me love my PSP long time.

The PSP light is a little more battery-friendly, so it can afford the extra processing power. I just hope they find a way to improve load times, like maybe caching some of the game onto a memory stick if you so choose.
Improving loading times is key. The PSP Slim has extra RAM to help improve loading times, but developers will need to code for that. I think anything coming out starting in January will be able to take advantage of the Slim’s extra capabilities.
And you’re right, there is definitely longer lasting battery in the Slim. I probably put in 6-8 hours on mine the past two days and it just hit 1 bar on the battery meter.
yea im looking at the slim but i dont know how much gaming i will do on the road. i would rather catch up on tv shows and music with me archos.
