OK folks, here’s a chance to know what we know without flailing about the web like a jackass.
Not that you do that. We love you. Yes, you.
The Wii didn’t do as well as projected but since nobody can friggin’ find one, its no real surprise now is it? One of the surprises was the increase in handheld sales. These numbers killed. In fact. With the exception of the phantom Wii, all the projected sales for the month were surpassed. Is this a result of people trying to get ahead of the holidays? Or a trend that will carry us past the snowfall?
The first column is system name. Second is actual sales. Third is projected sales and fourth is the percentage from the expected. Got it? Good. Welcome to the world of numbers! Yay!!
Nintendo DS – 1,535,000 – 1,297,000 – +18.29%
Nintendo Wii – 981,000 – _1,085,500 – _-9.63%
Playstation 2 – 496,000 – ___n/a ___-__ n/a__
Playstation 3 – 466,000 – __424,400 – _+9.80%
PSP ______- 567,000 – __497,900 – _+13.88%
XBOX 360 _- 770,000 -__ 753,200 – __+2.23%
Total Units _- 4,319,000 – 4,058,700 – _+6.41%
So. Its good to see a rise above the expectations. PS3 seems to be gaining ground on the 360 (finally). Nintendo better get off its ass and put out some product – as usual. The biggest jump shown was from the DS which is always nice. Its still weird to see the PS2 not getting any love. Jesus, its not even getting projected love. Damn!
And that about does it. Huh.
So what do you think people? Is a sign of things to come or is it just the holidays doing its thang? What are your projections for December?
Let us know.
Durka.

Not trying to be a jerk, but I think that PS3 if finally catching up b/c the people buying them already own a 360, that’s why 360s aren’t selling either.
I wouldn’t say that 360’s aren’t selling. 770k is a good number of consoles. But the PS3 is catching steam. It’s selling well, and at or above the point the 360 was last year. People have to remember, the PS3 is one year younger, and just had it’s first birthday. You can’t compare total 360 sales to total PS3 sales at this point.
I don’t find it surprising that handhelds sell better around this time of year. It is christmas, and handhelds are way cheaper than consoles.
The percentage of 360’s sold is waning because pretty much everyone who wanted one already has at least one. (yeah I know a few people with more than one 360)
