In case you haven’t seen it, the Spike VGA’s aired last night. All good and well. It was a bit less cheesy then previous years, which is a plus. However, there was one award that REALLY struck me the wrong way. The award was “Most Addictive Video Game – Fueled by Dew”, as in Mountain Dew. Guess who won? Halo 3. Really. If you check out the picture above, is there really any question as to why it won? An award sponsored by Mountain Dew Game Fuel. What’s the only game on the Game Fuel bottle? You guessed it… Halo 3.
Is this what we can expect from game awards in the future? I sure hope not. Weigh in on your thoughts in the comments.

Bullcrap, halo 3 was cool till mauler whoring came into play. Nothing beats geometry wars and some dr. pepper. 600,000!!!
Dude, excellent point. I didn’t even think about that.
The Videogame awards were kinda crappy; maybe it’s just me but it was too over the top. They invite some people who just don’t make sense to be there (Tila Tequila? why?). Dana White had an announcement, which I thought would be an upcoming UFC game, nope, it was the coaches for next seasons TUF… Now I like UFC & TUF alot, but why announce it at the VIDEOGAME awards? It doesn’t make sense, you could have announced it the night before at the big TUF finale.
I know Rock Band is really fun & all, but it should not have one as many awards as it did… think about the slap to the face it is. All the other games have unique levels, characters, weapons, deep storylines, etc. & instead of them winning, a game that you do the same thing to different songs won. I.e. it’s fun, but it lacks the depth other game do.
I saw the awards the first year and thought the whole production was a joke. I haven’t watched any of the other ones.
