Driving home this morning from NYC, hungover as balls I might add, I heard a news brief from 92.3 K-ROCK. They were plugging some giveaway that I barely paid attention to, but the DJ made a bold statement. He said that Nintendo has announced that they will not show their holiday commercials for the reason that there is a huge shortage of Nintendo Wiis. They do not want or need the advertising. They also do not want to show the public that there are Wiis out there. This is beyond ridiculous. How can you have a system with the launch being over a year prior and there are no Wii’s anywhere? Do they really expect this system to survive when a normal person cannot walk into a store and buy it? I’m an avid gamer and internet savvy enough to be able to find one. My mother is not. If she wanted to buy one, it would be almost impossible. Nintendo has dropped the ball on this. There are a few must have games and the system is basically harder to get than black tar heroin. I personally wouldn’t care if the Wii went extinct.

maybe they should spend their advertising savings on making more wii’s
I think that they may do this on purpose. They release as many Wii’s as they want to/need to, and that makes the supply/demand greater. While that doesn’t increase the prices, it makes them always talked about, because everyone wants to try to get one, which makes it so nintendo never has an overstock of them. Its a weird strategy.
That was a complete guess, I have no evidence to back that up.
Sucks though…
i bought mine back in june, and if you can believe, i played my ps3 WAY more, let alone my PC. Don’t really care for it. It was fun for awhile, but it’s more of a fad than anything. I’ll give it two years before no one cares for it anymore.
