XBOX 360’s DivX/Xvid Support Problems

xbox360black.jpg

I really can’t believe that I’m typing this. Christ.

So everyones pretty happy with the new 360 update huh? Not me. Wanna know why?

BECAUSE IT DOESN’T WORK WITH THE F**KING MEDIA EXTENDER. THAT’S WHY!!!!

Really? Is this what they come up with for their brainstorms? ‘Hey, you people can play more media isn’t that great? But hey, not you people over there. Yeah you, the ones with media extenders. You people get nothing. So sit down and stop clapping.’

Do they have something against dedicated players? Isn’t this like the third time we’ve gotten passed over with updates? Why have the extender in the first place? What, so you can say you have one? Seriously, I can’t even use it half the time because nothing I have on my Desktop is supported. Brilliant work guys, why don’t you just email me a picture of all of you giving me the finger with one hand and waving all the money I’ve spent on you bastards with the other.

Is it just me? Do I expect too much?

Perhaps. But somebody’s gotta get pissed about this shit. So it might as well be me.

Shitte.

I gave up on using the 360 for media capabilities. Every time I try I run into a restriction access problem, or something crappy like that. When it works, it works great, but it is very annoying.

PS3 is much better for media capabilities from what I’ve heard (loading up hard drive with movies/pictures, swapping hard drives).

    I love my little 360 anyways :)

  2. Yeah this is just dumb. This is why I use my PS3 as my media center. I was really excited with the Video Marketplace launched on the 360, but I’ve never used it to rent a movie. Really thought I would. PS3 is my DVD player and streaming media player.

I got the 1st season of The State, a few episodes of South Park in HD and an episode of Lucy, Daughter of the Devil-which kinda sucked actually. No way I’m renting a movie on there-you have seven days to watch it, or 24hrs after watching it to watch it again, thats it. :(

@Schwing007 – Yep, I do realize that the renting method on there sucks. Basically it is On Demand but in an MS flavor. Later I’m going to go compare how much it costs to rent the same movie from on demand and xbox live. I sure hope that the movies on XBM cost less than the ones on On Demand. I’ll post up prices later.

  7. Yes, you can stream media from your PC to the PS3 and view it on the PSP via Remote Play. I’ve done it a few times :)
