The Family Timer Included in Fall Xbox Live Dash Update

xbla.jpgAfter careful reading of ALL the features and noticed that parents can now limit the time their kids are playing. The feature will allow the parents to enter a passcode which will enable a shutdown timer either daily or weekly. This timer would have warning countdowns that will let the gamer know exactly how much time is left. The Family Timer will also disable startup until the clock has expired. I am not totally in disagreement with this because childhood obesity is at an all time high, but how many parents actually know how to use the Xbox 360 let alone know that a dash update is available. I would like to see some statistics on how many Family Timers are used.  It would be a good prank if your roommate hogs the tv with Mass Effect while you are trying to watch The Real World. Thought’s anyone?

that’s just all types of mean. can you imagine if you were like 15min from a savepoint and were going to lose an hour’s worth of gaming all because someone tried to be an ass and set the timer?

Bahaha, that really would suck if you lost an hours worth of gaming because of a savepoint. I’d be pissed.

Really, the only way to let parents know that there is a feature like this available would be for MS to advertise maybe a few times a day for like 2 weeks on like CBS or something so parents could know whats up <– (dumb english).

There should be a way to password protect this so that other people can’t access it and mess with your settings.

Oh, one more thing. They should have a countdown clock enabled as well. So when you have an Hour/45min/30min/15min/10min/5min/4min/3min/2min/1min so that kids don’t lose game progress, and college students aren’t fucked over by their roommates.

There is a countdown timer as mentioned above to let one know how much time is left.
