Shiny new Halo Edition Replacement Xbox 360

Halo 360So I made the trip down to my local Best Buy and got on the dreaded line of lost souls a.k.a. customer service. I had nothing but fear in my heart that this process would become nothing short of a huge cluster fuck, but to my surprise all went well this time around. I walked up with my RROD edition Xbox 360 and a controller (I held onto my HDD) and told the girl at the counter that it died, she knew once I told her I had red lights that it was toast. She didn’t even bother checking it and at first wanted to only give me another white 360, so I asked her if I could get an Elite or Halo edition, after some convincing she agreed but unfortunately they were out of Elites. So the next best thing was the Halo Edition, which at least would give me the new Falcon chip and unique color scheme. The Best Buy worker actually gave me the HDD and the play and charge kit as well and didn’t make me buy another PRP, so all and all, it was a good trip and now I have a new functioning 360.

Hit the jump for my impressions of the Halo Edition system.

The Halo Edition Xbox 360 is nothing more than a paint job, you don’t get any games that come with the system, you might have thought that Halo 3 would be thrown in, but no. Aside from the new chip set the Halo Edition packs nothing more than a green controller and a charge kit for the controller. The green army color does take some getting used to and now I have no use for my Black Face plate. If my old 360 wouldn’t have died there would be no reason to get the Halo Edition, unless you are a real hardcore Halo fan and needed the Bungie logo on your system? I was fairly unimpressed by the system and would have preferred an Elite, but they were out. I do have an extra 20 gig Halo 3 HDD now, anyone interested?

yea i hate that system i think that it looks horribile and is really just a scam to made halo seem so important that it needs its own system. really the game is good but the graphics are very similar to the old game (you can only look at the Master Chief for so long) and the game play is similar. yes it has the best online multiplayer but it brings no real game play innovations. The game does not need a system.

@Rhomp - agreed, the games main innovation is the bubble shield and power drain items, other than that it is pretty much the same. The main thing i like about the system is that the internal chip set is updated, other than that the colors and style really dont impress me much.

what do you want for the HDD? I may go get the acrade system soon and will likely need one. then again, it doesn’t even come with component cables w/ optical audio out or HDMI so might aswell go pro. It’d cost me near $350 total just to buy seperate cable for the arcade. I dunno tho.

@Tha Doc - Not really sure how much it will go for, it is the special edition 20 GB Halo one if that makes any difference to you. Retails for $95, but I will take any fair offers. Just hit me up.

That is really nice. The best buy in my area refuses to replace any 360 with the three red rings. They direct you to microsoft. If someone argued with them about it I don’t know what they would do. But, I have seen signs saying that is store policy now.

Wow, what a coincidence. My 360 stopped reading disks, and I went for the Halo edition as well. I do believe mine has the falcon chip in it. Let me warn you though, not all of the halo editions have it. Usually, you have the best chance if the Lot # on the system is 734.

It was funny though because I was looking at all the 360’s to find the newest lot #, then some guy came and questioned me saying “you need any help there?”. Heh
